If someone chose to abort their fetus because it suffered a defect or disease I am not going to argue with them.

In your thread-starting post, you argue that the child does not look normal (agreed). From thence, you argue that the parents should have aborted. Obviously, the child'ds mother chose not to abort. Are you advocating now that some external authority - perhaps the government? - should pass judgement on whom we ought to abort? I say leave it to parents, and the mother in particular.

Of course it should be left to the parents, especially the woman. I do think that there should be strong recommendations to abort in such a case, though.

It's not the reading that I have a problem with, its the concepts presented in the book.

Do you not have serious problems with the world presented in the book?

I have not actually read the book; I have read quite a few things along the line of "What's so bad about The Brave New World" and opinions and articles about it and know the aspects of the society that are presented in it.

My question to you is, why would you not want to throw up hearing about a society like that?

Yes I think a a society like that would be awful. One of the earlier posts about genetic engeneering sounded like that. Your response enticed me to ask if you had read it. Thanks for your offering along with response.

It's definitely on my list of things to read. The only problem is how long that list is.....

Right now I'm reading The Lexus and the Olive Tree, by Thomas L. Friedman.
