i saw this show one time, cant remember what channel or the girls name, but she had been, i think, always confined to a wheel chair and was never able talk. but she had this text to speech gadget that allowed her to communicate just like your average person. i think i remember her being pretty bright, too.

i dont think there necessarily has to be a line.

on the subject of what-if-he/she-is-the-next-einstein, i dont see how that really matters. smart or no, i would imagine the only thing that matters is the life, right? for all i know, you prolifers might just say this to make the idea appealing to prochoicers, but it ends up obscuring your position on life.

if we were all really concerned about what ifs like this, wed have women pregnant 24/7 to leave no sperm unturned, in the battle to let all potential life have a chance. if prolifers were really concerned about a right to life, theyd all be stronger advocates of real humanitarian missions, instead of fake ones that cost so many lives and theyd be a lot more skeptical about things like the death penalty.

What if she can't, or doesn't accept herself? It's easy to say she might learn to do this, she might learn to do that, just as it's easy to say what if to this and that, but are the risks of having such a child really worth it?
Wouldn't the risk of possible emotional damage to that child be far too great a risk to even consider allowing her birth?

It's also easy to kill. Easier, in fact. Stop worrying about emotional damage. Most claims of emotional damage these days are purely to get attention. There is usually no real emotional damage, and the reason people usually respond to such claims is because they like the idea of having a "calling."

You mean to say that people would never be disillusioned with the way they look?

Why do looks have to matter in the first place?

They don't, but people do get depressed because they hate the way they look. Why do you think so many people get cosmetic surgery? They are unhappy with their appearance, and feel the need to change. Some people could be beautiful, yet look in the mirror and see an ugly duckling looking back at them. I don't know why people feel that way about themselves, but many do, and it's not easy to just accept your lot in life.
Some people would be miserable with the way they look - that's my concern for Julianna when she becomes older, and realises she is not the same as everyone else.

I don't even believe you that you think that you are making a valid argument.

You think Julianna is always going to look in the mirror and love what she sees? You think she isn't going to be teased? You think she isn't going to become depressed because of her looks?

So instead of the courageous vision of rising above obstacles (which probably aren't even there in the first place or don't matter), we should just kill people that encounter obstacles that make you have feelings?

The idea that you have to love what you see in the mirror, and that it is critical to life that you do is a sickness that you have. Everybody has to deal with getting teased at some point. EVERYBODY. She probably won't get teased nearly as much as most people anyway because she has reached the point where people will feel sorry for her instead. Every teenage girl becomes depressed about their looks.

I still have a hard time believing that your arguments are serious. You are trying to find excuses to murder. There is something seriously wrong with YOU.

Well, you are pro life, correct? Which means we are never going to agree on this.
What of the photos you showed on the first page? Would you abort that child?
I have simply said things here they way I see them. I would honestly consider the childs future. I would not want them to be unhappy with themselves, and a child like Julianna would, quite possibly, be unhappier than most. I couldn't take that risk. I would not want my child to suffer physically, or emotionally. But that's just me, others would feel differently, and I don't understand why they would have such a child, but it's their decision I guess, although I wouldn't agree.
