Default Abortion destroys human life? Who cares?

One of the prime arguments that fundies throw at abortion is that it "harms human life." Who cares? When was anyone in the US against harming human life? People die all the time. Get over it. The only thing that makes human life "important" is our ego. There are way too many people on this planet AND GUESS WHAT, all of them WILL die someday or another. This emotional bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that people throw around is just rhetoric. Those people wouldn't care for any Iraqi in the Middle East that got shot. And human life is NOT as important as everyone says it is. I guarantee that if any one of the people here died, a few tears would be shed, a generation would pass, AND NO ONE WOULD REMEMBER IT OR CARE ABOUT IT THEREAFTER. The only thing that society exists to preserve is the human who is a member of it. A thing inside a person which is unable to contribute to society, IS NOT A MEMBER of it. Hence, society does not need to make special allowances for their existence.

Pretty much. I can agree with that.

There are people that would be cool with turning the Middle East into a parking lot. That scares me.

I'm told that the oil would be perfectly fine after the nuclear attack - maybe you'd just have to break through the glass that covered the sand.

The primary purpose of the criminal law is to control and structure revenge. Since the fetus cannot exact revenge the law is not obliged to act for it. That others seek to impose their desire for revenge on the mother-victim, these laws are peculiar to say the least.

Uh no it's not. The purpose of criminal law is to ensure that people FOLLOW the law. Duh? The purpose of law is to ensure that the members of a society will interact favorably with each other and promote the success of the society. To make sure that society remains an efficient form of survival.

It boggles my mind sometimes, how vehemently people stand up in defense of a person's right to be selfish and irresponsible.

I have nothing against selfishness.

I have everything against irresponsibility though.

Naturally I support such things. Lest half this forum be prosecuted.
