According to Wiki.
"According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), there were 854,122 legal induced abortions in the US in 2003" But we know that the CDC does not hear about everything, and Doctors have been known to fudge their numbers. Here are the reasons women gave for getting an abortion. In 2000, cases of rape or incest accounted for 1% of abortions.[8] Another study, in 1998, revealed that women reported the following reasons for choosing an abortion:[9] 25.5% Want to postpone childbearing 21.3% Cannot afford a baby 14.1% Has relationship problem or partner does not want pregnancy 12.2% Too young; parent(s) or other(s) object to pregnancy 10.8% Having a child will disrupt education or job 7.9% Want no (more) children 3.3% Risk to fetal health 2.8% Risk to maternal health 2.1% Other Yeah, this goes right in line with my being selfish post earlier in the thread. I seem to remember reading a while ago that something like 1.3 million people come of age every year that can not have children. But I may be remembering incorrectly, and I could not find any solid numbers with a quick google. Education, better adoption possibilities, and teaching responsibility could really help this out.

The same statistics are shown on This website.
Doesn't say what the rate of teenage pregnancy and abortion is, though.

So this could mean that those who considered themselves 'too young' could possibly have been teenagers, so if this were the case, 12.2%of abortions could possibly have been for teenagers, making the abortion rate among teens in Australia more than twice as high as the rate of teen abortion in America.

When does your education start? We have health experts pushing for sex education to start in Primary School, because we know that kids as young as eleven are having sex. Christian groups of course, object, but we don't know if sex education this early will actually help, it may very well help, just we haven't had the chance to implement it in schools yet. I hope we do.

I wonder if learning about sex from parents would be better than learning it at school, then again, parents have more influence over their kids. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your way of looking at things.
