A Dragon in Africa
After the end of the cold War, Africa become forgotten once more. It was no longer a battle field for the power's war, so it fell into futher disaray.
Now, once more, a great power is comming ot Africa, and they bring with them money, weapons and cheap goods, and leave with all the natural recources they want.
This new 'colonisation' of Africa is not happening by Europe, and not by force, but it comes from China is they use money. They arewilling to support evil regimes (like those in Sudan and Zimbabwe). They build these dictators huge palaces (using Chinese labour), and give them the guns they need to hold power.
And they take oil and iron and whateverelse they can find.
Allowing them in is once more showing short sightness by African leaders, as part of the deal is alowing Chinese goods in, that swamp the markets and destroy African economies.
Now, should the rest of the world care? Yes, they should. Because China is helping dictaorships staying longer than they should. And once they have all they want and leave, Africa will find itself in another black hole, deeper than the one after the end of the Cold War.
Do I have solutions. Just the ones I keep hammering on about - Free trade is one, allow Africa to compete fairly with other markets. Use the UN, and not the IMF and World Bank that force bad policies on Arifrican countries. Help the AU to become stronger by giving guidance and training, so Africa can truly solve it's own problems.
Just athought anyway
