Default Zimbabwe’s $10 Million Bill Won’t Even Buy a Hamburger

Zimbabwe bank issues $10million bill - but it won't even buy you a hamburger

Forget the glitzy restaurants of New York and London: only in Zimbabwe would a hamburger actually cost millions of dollars.

The central bank of the southern African country has a issued a 10million Zimbabwe dollar note. The move increases the denomination of the nation's highest bank note more than tenfold.

Even so, a hamburger in an ordinary cafe in Zimbabwe costs 15 million Zimbabwe dollars.

The lesson: Hyperinflation is a possibility for every State with a fiat currency.

Italy had that with the Lira and Japan still has it with the Yen. Zimbabwe's issues are not the result of "fiat" money, however. Like in most third world countries, Zimbabwe's problems are with its government. No matter what kind of money they used Zimbabwe would be a crap hole.

And the more power you give a government over peaceful, honest, voluntary activities, the more potential problems you will have.

Well....you know where we disagree on this issue. No need to rehash it. But I still love you. It's just weird how we agree on so much but completely butt heads on this.

Hey man, a broken clock is right twice a day. Actually, I agree with Blade on the FCC. And he tends to be a live and let live kind of guy, which I agree with.

?

Cause of Zimbabwe's woes is primarily do to their racist President and his asinine policy of stealing the holdings of Whites.
Whites produced.

In effect they are experienceing a national Depression because of that. I doubt it matter what form of system econmicalyl they had as long as they did what they did they'd be in this positon.

Going to be hard to come back from as many White Zimbabweans have left the nation and probably will not come back for the forseeable future.
