The level of unchecked off topic trolling on this forum is killing debate. It's almost impossible to find a thread that hasn't deteriorated into off topic one liners and insults within the first page. Between that and the folks who've obviously decided to come here on a sabbatical from stormfront.org it's making staying on this forum almost completely pointless.

I am giving serious consideration to going somewhere with actual moderation and a collective IQ above kindergarten level.

S'mae, fy Nhad! The reactionary nature of so much posting comes from the fact that so very many sites are American, and a very high proportion of Americans are heavily brainwashed. On the other hand, here at least, posts keep coming, which is better than waiting a week or so for page-long ponderings (here it is like the old AWE site). I reckon the moderation, though, is pretty good: on many sites, if you object to child-murder or assassination you get barred as evidently anti-semitic.

It is a little disturbing the level of racism here. People on all sides complain about it, but only one group is calling the other 'creatures' and 'animals'...

I am giving serious consideration to going somewhere with actual moderation and a collective IQ above kindergarten level.

What I do know is it is an election year and forums get heated up thus creating more reported posts and p.m.'s to moderators and advisors about members they think should be banned or taken action against.

We take hours of our time as volunteers to moderate this huge forum the best we can. We have added new moderators to our staff to try and keep up with the reports and myraids of threads where we get a report and find we are editing and deleting posts for hours.

Just to get through a page of reports can take up to a day. We ask members to be patient as we do deal with problem members. When people claim that we should take action on another because they were infracted or warned for the same thing, they don't take into account that each persons record and other indicators determine what action(s) may be taken.

We are not quick to ban anyone unless it's clear they are here to blatantly break the rules and its by a quorum of votes by the moderators. We don't always catch rulebreakers that aren't reported but believe me, we are soon aware of their posting behaviors.

If you must leave, just note that there are only a handful of those that seem to deteriorate threads and they know, or will eventually know that they are hanging in here by a thread. We stand on and by our "Mission Statement" and will not tolerate those that have no interest in civil debate here at P.F.

Albert there just basically did what you have an issue with. I've noticed it too. Basically, when you have a bunch of ultracons, and all the mods are ultracons, and they all get their opinions from Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh what do you want man? PM me if you want somewhere to have a good debate with actual intelligent liberals, progressives, moderates and yes they do exist, conservatives. I am about done with this place myself.

You are mistaken when you say we have a bunch of mods who are ultracons. It's neither here nor there anyways because we post as members and moderate by the rules. There are liberals, libertarians, independants and conservative moderators. We became a part of the staff by vote and by our records for staying within the rules and dedicating our time debating in a civil manner. It's very easy to do.

We don't like loosing members but if this isn't the place, there are other forums that might better suit you.

This is the essence of this site it seems. Be antagonizing just for the sake to antagonize. The few liberals that are on here seem to get all their facts from The Daily Show and Rachel Maddow, while the many, many, cons here seem to get their facts from Hannity and Limbaugh. Out of all the discussions I have gotten into thus far, very few were met with an actual rebuttal, rather the most common way to respond to me was:

A) Respond with an insult and no substance

B) The person reiterates a point that actually was proven wrong a page or two ago because they were using old or false data, yet the person refuses to acknowledge this and find more proof to justify their beliefs. They simply continue to use the bad data knowing it is false.

C) The person(s) do not respond to me, and from what I gather the reason is because I do not directly attack anybody nor resort to hackney conclusions.

I never have figured out when someone is defeated or looses a debate why it's so hard to just admit maybe their source is outdated or whatever the case is. When you present good/solid and reputable sources that are updated, I think it's the best tool.

My point is that it isn't hard to be humble. Heck, I learned so much about politics through members and searching for sources to back up many of my claims. I am opinionated too but admit defeat.

There are four reasons to participate in a forum. To learn something, to share information, to double check one's opinions and assumptions, and for amusement.

There are leftist intellects here that deserve respect and warrant good faith debate. But they are few in number. PF is different than most forums in that it has attracted a strong cohort of conservatives who have reached critical mass and become a force on the forum.

There are four types of people who belong to PF. Those who are smarter than me. Those who are my equals. Those who are not as smart as me. And those who are guilty of a status crime.

PF is unique and should be cherished.
