New feature: Like and Dislike added to posts

So I now would like to give the new system a hearty hello. You are quickly becoming stick on name tags advertising the capabilities of those who resort to button pushing rather than thought.

While I'll certainly acknowledge the potential for abuse, it's not necessarily going to always be illustrative of a failure to exercise any thought or one's lacking capability. It actually takes a great deal of thoughtful restraint sometimes not to respond to the baiting, which just encourages the trolls who are not here for a thoughtful exchange, but to get their adrenaline fix from combative confrontation. Replying to them really serves no productive purpose.

You're entitled to your opinion, of both the system and those of us who will not be applying it lazily, potentially lumping us in with those who will abuse it. I'm likewise entitled to my opinion, the remainder of which I won't be sharing because while the snark of it would perhaps be amusing, I have enough respect for you to refrain. Please don't make me change my mind.

I considered labeling them "Agree" or "Respectfully Disagree". And there could be a third option, and possibly more.

I like this a LOT more. Aside from avoiding the drama, it could actually be useful to see where people you're debating with come down on various things. Meaning that while you're replying to their post, you get a bit more information by looking at what else they clicked in the thread.

I hope they change the "quick links" page to be more like the top 20 posts/threads.

It would be good if there was some kind of limit on how many times you could like/dislike per day as well.

I'm liking it because it's a quick way to acknowledge somebody's post was worth reading. Think I'd like it better if we were giving THANKS instead of likes/dislikes (too Facebooky and most people who use the dislike are just being snarky).

All in all... it works well. Thank you, owner, for the new feature.

I like the feature...the "likes" are positive feedback...and the "dislikes" from lefties are positive feedback.
