Anti-Government Protests Flare in Islamabad
"The controversy over Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's decision to suspend the nation's chief justice escalated dramatically Friday, as thousands of boisterous protesters clashed with police in downtown Islamabad and the government detained key opposition leaders." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...031600608.html And there was hardly a whisper here in the “Land of the Free” as our government suspended much of the Bill of Rights...pitiful.

I keep asking you guys to refute the following, and you Neocons just keep running from it: Every nation state on the planet knows that we have enough nuclear weapons to nuke every square inch of their countries. None of them want a war with us. The American civilian population is the most heavily armed in the world. Look at what it's costing us to occupy tiny Iraq with its limited insurgency. No nation on the earth could afford to invade and occupy the United States. Besides, they'd never get past our nukes. Stop with your Neocon lies. Stop trying to portray America as defenseless and helpless. We are not.

I`m certainly not in favour of making war against Pakistan (or Saudi).
But I`d like to see some co-ordinated diplomatic pressure to encourage democratic reform. And I`d like to see an end to the moronic doublespeak "We`re spreading democracy" while arming and supporting dictatorial regimes.

"The relationship peaked under the presidency of George H.W. Bush. This is both due to personal and financial ties, but moreover because the Saudi royal family supported (was even grateful) for the first Iraqi war, when the United States ousted Iraqi troops from Kuwait. Both then-president Bush and the current president have had personal and deep financial ties with the Saudi royal family. Author and journalist Craig Unger documents $1.4 billion that has “made its way” from the Saudi royal family to “entities tied” to the Bush family, according to Unger’s controversial book "House of Bush, House of Saud.” http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in612852.shtml "The Wall Street Journal quietly reported on September 27, 2001 that the Bin Laden family had invested with The Carlyle Group, a merchant bank that boasts several Reagan-era former government figures including George Bush Sr. among its management. The story received some attention from the alternative media, but even the fact that George W. Bush sat on the firm's board for four years barely raised eyebrows in the mainstream media or among the public. In fact, the Journal's revelation was the tip of the iceberg. Growing out of their roots in the oil business, the interests, ambitions, and achievements of Bushes, the Bin Ladens, and most importantly the Saudi royal family have been intertwined for a quarter century. What follows is The Dubya Report's brief chronicling of that history.": http://www.thedubyareport.com/bushbin.html And just to put Bush's business partners in perspectives, the Saudi government arrests anyone who brings a Bible into the country. They torture and/or execute anyone who converts to Christianity. They have tortured many of their own citizens. They have 2 separate armies because they fear that one might turn on them. They run the country via the 6,000 + children they've sired through their hundreds of wives. Nice bunch of folks your boy Bush is working with there... Quote:
