Yes, the west is selective in its choices in which pro-democracy rallies to support, and I think we've selected the right choice in this case. Mynamar has imprisoned all opposition and forced a large amount of its own citizens into slavery.
At least Pakistan allows the opposition party to file suit against Musharraf.
It's too simplistic to say the west thinks Mynamar is bad but Pakistan is good. There are oppressive dictatorships all over the place. It's simply not realistic to think we can pressure every oppressive government at the same time, and sometimes there's no other realistic choice than to work with one or another at certain times, such as the case with Pakistan. That doesn't mean we approve of their actions. Various western politicians have made general condemnations against all oppressive regimes. They know who they are. Besides, there are more ways to break up oppressive governments then sanctions and warfare.
