Russia Urges Obama to Lift Cuba Embargo, Respect World Opinion

The embargo has been in place since 1962!!! It was done to pressure the Communist government, which came to power with Fidel Castro in 1959.

The UN General Assembly on Oct. 29 voted for the 17th consecutive year in favor of a resolution that calls on the U.S. to lift the embargo. Three countries -- the U.S., Israel and Palau -- opposed the resolution, while 185 countries voted in favor and two, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands, abstained.

I don't think this is an unreasonable request, and I can't see how lifting the ban would increase US security risk.

Ask the Cubans who fled Cuba. I don't think they will see it the same way

And it might be fun to vacation down there in all the new resorts, beaches, casinos, whore houses, and other attractions that would blossom in a new day. It would be a gigantic construction bonanza for many American companies eventually, as they tear down fifty years of the "achievements" of a hammer-headed communist society and replace it with the glitz, glamor, and overnight wealth that we always seem to infuse into these third-world toilets when we march in with suitcases bulging with cash....

I think it would be a good PR move by Obama to lift embargo, as well as gaining a new trading partner.

The Embargo shouldnt be lifted until Cuba pays back every cent they stole from Americans in the revolution.
