    Default Anzac Day

Roll of Honour in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra - The wall has the names of every serviceman who died on active service in all of Australia's wars. It has almost 103 000 names.

"Those heroes that shed their blood
    And lost their lives.
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
    Therefore rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
And the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side
Here in this country of ours.
    You, the mothers,
Who sent their sons from far away countries
    Wipe away your tears,
Your sons are now lying in our bosom
    And are in peace
After having lost their lives on this land they have
    Become our sons as well."

    - Ataturk

stupid stupid stupid wars, so many lifes lost!
Innocent lifes, and not only soldiers, but all those civilians, who cannot run or hide.
We own those diggers big times, but we also own the other side....if we only at times say no!
Haven't met s single Turk who didn't love Ataturk. A very remarkable statement he made!
In hindsight, no war can be won, only lost....
    Lest we forget!

Maybe its time to have a really hard look at who creates these wars where innocent people die.

May there souls rest in peace. May whatever god they believe in look after their souls.

May they be remembered and honored by those they lost their lives to protect.

Well from what i have found on the internet there hasn't been a war that wasn't sponsored by a Rockerfella, Rothchild, Morgan etc etc for a few hundred years now.

Yes all that death and destruction because of some greedy bankers.

Ofcourse we are told thats its freedom and democracy that we are fighting for.

Still lest we forget those that gave their lives in war even if they didn't really know why and for who they where fighting for.

There has never been a more serious assault on our standard of living than the carbon tax. dumbanddumber

"Australian households will ultimately bear the full cost of the carbon price." Ross Garnaut

Yes, I agree. I also feel the "blind sheep mentality" of the military is definately PAST its used by date.

More than anything else this one day unites two countries - Australia and New Zealand

It has been said we are the only countries in the world that celebrate a major defeat

I have no problem with that idea as it carries with it the knowledge that in war there is always those who will suffer. War itself should never be celebrated but the cost and suffering should and always will be remembered

    Lest we forget
The internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhoea -- massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind- boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it.
