M8, "Whats that got to do with Gillard?..If we are that far gone, the blame can't lie with her! Every country on the planet has hit hard times, why do we think a change of government would have made it any better? Conservatives ruled around the world during this period leading up to the GFC!!"
We`ve been affected by the GFC, no doubt. On the other hand, we entered the period of the GFC with a healthy bank balance, we have the mining boom, which has handed us huge profits on a plate. For Julia to spruik off the way she did at the ecconomic forum is cringingly embarrassing.
fair enough,

One would be plundering the depths of naïveté to believe that Australia can continue to exist in an oasis of economic tranquility, while the global economy plunges into turmoil.
and what does the US say?
http://www.smh.com.au/business/downt...429-1xt03.htmlTHE earnings season in the United States has been peppered with negative commentary about Australia's weak economy...
Last week, the chief executive of Illinois Tool Works, a 100 year-old manufacturer and Fortune 200 company, told an audience of US analysts that the Australian economy was ''slowing significantly'', and that that the downturn had taken his company by surprise.
While Government is busy trying to prop up the building industry

Seems very embarrassing to preach to other governments about how great your economy is going, when there are major problems occurring in it.

The mining boom was occuring under a Howard government, but they totally disregarded infrastructure. This is such a docile argument it beggars belief. It is easy to save when you aren't spending on national essentials, which labor had to do, while also facing a GFC. It is a case of listening to rhetoric from the right who would rather shout over the top of everybody else to drown out realities. Labor shoot themselves in the foot many times by not shouting back. The coalition spruiked off about being the government of low interest rates, but while howard was treasurer interests rates were 21%, which was higher than labors of the 90's. They are a party of deception and half truths. The howard government is the highest taxing governement in Australia, but again they shout so loud and have the media as their boombox.
Labor have done a great job in difficult circumstances so can hold their heads high as far as I'm concerned!
Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life. Steve Jobs

Mate, if you`ve got any rooms with a window, go and have a look at the real world outside. You`ll find that during the bulk of the period of Howard`s Government, the States languished under the ALP handicap. In Queensland for example, the Bligh State Government sent the state down the tubes during the most prosperous period in our history. In fact, over a billion dollars was wasted on the Traverston Crossing Dam wank before approval was even given. BTW, I wouldn`t p1ss on Howard if he was on fire, but his govt was better than this shower.
Dont forget the desalination plant at Tugun which is currently costing thousands of dollars per day even though its not operating....and of course the multi million dollar white elephant here on the Gold Coast called the monorail which is going
to operate at a huge loss....and the thousands of public servants losing their jobs under the new Government (due to burgeoning
expenditure in the PS by Bligh....) Ohh..dont forget the millions of dollars the Health swindle cost Blighs Government because
the checks and balances didnt check or balance with any vigilance.....
Welcome to Qld, the land that intelligent government forgot....until Canpbell Newman came along....
Here we go, there is no "context", just shallow claims.
Here's a bit of trivia or is it??: I read in an article not so long ago regarding weather patterns and Federal governments. Under conservative govenments there is generally severe droughts, under a labor governments there is high precipiations. Is it coincidence or Karma??? I was just thinking about the need for the state government to build both the desal plant and traverston (*)(*)(*)(*).
