Did you know that the English Monarch has over 7 billion dollars worth of RIO TINTO shares? It gives the queen about 300 million dollars of franked dividends each year.

Now there is nothing wrong with being a share holder, BUT at least the shareholder should have PURCHASED the shares in the first place.

You see, the Royal family was given this lucrative parcel of shares FOR NOTHING when RIO TINTO was originally set up several decades ago.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! - stuff everybody else (I didnt know that GOD had preferences for royalty and ignored everybody else - what sort of GOD is that?)

Yes - nobody wants the Queen or her rellos - we are all agreed on that.

But does anyone really want to change our system of Government?

Surely we just need a quick referendum - cross out everything in the Constitution that refers to "The Crown" - and change it to "Governor-General". Does anyone want any more than that?

Why fix it if it ain't broke? The Australian people high quality of life, relatively good transparency in government, and great voter turn out (that last one is meant to be a joke )

But one thing you need to do is change your flag. That Union Jack is like a prison tattoo. How about a green flag with a yellow southern cross?

well this time the Rudd government will be drafting a referendum on a republic differently from the Howard plebecite fiasco a few years ago.

It will done in 2 stages this time

First referendum will be simple "do you want a republic?"

If the referendum is passed then the 2nd referendum will be drafted to vote on a type of republic suitable for Australia and its people

(Howard purposefully included a crazy republican model that divided everybody and linked it directly with the question of whether we should become a republic - and of course the referendum was knocked back by the people - not because they didnt want a republic, but rather they didnt want that model - Howard was a genius at dividing Australians based on wealth and class as well as trying to make the greedy feel comfortable and less guilty by giving them everything)

The Queen has no power. If she even tried to do something, then I'm sure you would become a Republic in a heart beat.

Monarchies are BY definition undemocratic

I hope that ONE day in the near future Australia will become a "real" democracy
