Craig and I only met up once. He wanted to meet up again but he kept pushing me, saying that 'we aren't getting any younger' and that we should just get on with it and see if there were any sparks. He basically meant that we should start a serious relationship and see what happened. He didn't seem to understand that I didn't want to have sex with someone only to decide I didn't like them, I had to love the person first. No matter how many times I tried to explain that he kept saying that same thing over and over.

I stopped texting him and now he doesn't text me either. Good riddance. I wonder WTF it is with men, every guy I have met online always bugs me about meeting up. I just want to talk to them first - what is so wrong with that?

Men complain about not being able to meet the right girl, well maybe it is because they have sex on the brain and don't want to spend time getting to know the girl first!

His name is Craig and he is the cousin of a guy I went to school with. His cousin is married to a former McDonalds manager, so its a small world!
We went to the pub for a meal, then went to see Prometheus, which was quite good. We hope to meet up again next week, when I will hopefully travel to Melbourne to meet him, then we will catch the tram and go to the zoo. :) I'll have to take my camera!

Craig and I have a fair bit in common, which is possibly why we seemed to click. He is shy like me, though, and there were a few awkward silences because neither of us knew what to say! We talk more over Facebook and and via text message than we do in person!

Am really looking forward to next week. I may have found myself someone special. Here's hoping...

Christian already comes across as being very controlling, and you can already tell its going to get worse for Ana, but she is so blind to his dangers. All she sees is how handsome he looks and how badly she wants to bed him.

My cousins and aunties have read the book and my sister wants to read it too. But none of them have all the books, and I do, haha.

FSOG is apparently going to be made into a movie, which is interesting. I only hope the writers/producers do it justice!

A man was one of several CFA volunteers to helped to rescue an elderly lady from her burning home on Black Saturday, and was jailed a few months later for a shocking attack on his partner, which she believes caused her to miscarry.
He was awarded with a medal for bravery, but after protests from his former partner, and the public, he was stripped of his award:
A WIFE-basher has been stripped of his medal for his heroics on Black Saturday.

The Royal Humane Society of Australasia yesterday revoked the Certificate of Merit awarded to Paul McCuskey after crisis talks led to a unanimous decision.

McCuskey was one of a several CFA volunteers who saved an elderly woman at Cambarville during the 2009 disaster.

But just months after the rescue he was jailed for dragging from bed his pregnant partner, Jeannie Blackburn, and kicking her in the stomach - an attack which she believes caused her to miscarry.

Last night the victim said the community's outrage against against domestic violence led to the ruling and "an incredible victory".

"I was devastated when I heard that Paul had been publicly rewarded for bravery - it seemed crazy that a man could be acknowledged for his public deeds when behind closed doors he had been so violent," she said.

I think that what he did to his wife was appalling, but the award is not related to what he did to her. Its an award to say how brave her was for helping to save the life of an elderly woman, on the worst day in Australia's history. His actions that day are not relevant to his actions against his former partner, and I think he should not have been stripped of his medal. He deserves recognition for what he did that day, and I find it shameful that so many people believe otherwise.

I took it to the counter where it scanned for $29. I told the lady it was only $13 - it was on a shelf with about ten other copies of the film. She called a young man over and he asked me exactly where I got it from. I showed him and he said I could have it for $13, and he called another bloke to fix the tag on the DVD's because they should have been $29.95 instead. I was quite happy to get a film for less than half price, especially as I had been wanting this movie for quite some time. :)

I have never been drunk, and have never intended to allow myself to get wasted. I think getting drunk is pretty much the dumbest thing you could do....

I have never been drunk, and have never intended to allow myself to get wasted. I think getting drunk is pretty much the dumbest thing you could do. Its why so many women wake up in bed next to a strange man and assume they were raped. Its why people get into fights and get into their cars and drive, then end up crashing into a tree or something.
How many women end up pregnant from a one night stand, which would never have resulted had they been sober? I could never allow myself to be so irresponsible - there is no such thing as a responsible drunk.

But even though I never allowed myself to get drunk, I did have a problem with alcohol, which I was able to recognise.

I never used to drink much, but when I got my job, I could afford to buy alcohol, and I did. I'd buy slabs of Vodka Cruisers (the drinks referred to as alcoholic cordial) and drink them in a matter of days.
When I got my own place, I could buy more. My fridge was filled with Cruisers, all different flavors - lime, lemon, orange, blackcurrant, blueberry etc.

I'd have my first drink first thing in the morning, at 10am. I'd have another for lunch, for for dinner, and one later while relaxing. Sometimes I'd wake in the middle of the night and have a craving for a drink. I remember one night waking at 4am, needing a drink, so I went to the fridge and opened a bottle. It satisfied my cravings and I was able to go back to bed. I drank the rest of the bottle in the morning when I woke up.

I thought that I didn't have a problem because I had never allowed myself to get drunk. I always drunk on a full stomach and stopped drinking if I felt light headed.

After a few years I got sick. My stomach kept giving me trouble so I was booked in for an endoscopy, where a camera would be inserted down my throat, into my stomach. I got the results of that test a few weeks later - gastritis, which is basically an inflammation of the stomach lining.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastritis

I was told that one of the main causes of gastritis was excessive alcohol consumption. I didn't think anything of it, because then I didn't think I had anything to worry about. It was only when I had my next drink that it finally hit me. The craving for alcohol early in the morning, having an alcoholic drink with breakfast, it was dangerous, and it was making me sick. I had ruined my own body because of my drinking.

That same day, I tipped all my bottles of drink down the sick and put them in the bin. I haven't touched a drop of alcohol since then. Its been nearly 3 and a half years since my last drink, and I am glad I made it this far.

I won't deny its been hard - having a grog shop in the local supermarket was hard, as I had to walk past it every day and see the displays. I'd want to go in and buy just one drink..but one drink would turn into 2, then 3...I couldn't do it. Sometimes it would be almost impossible not to go in and buy a drink, but I walked past that shop every single time. I used all my willpower not to enter, and over time, the cravings started to lessen. In about six months, I still had cravings, but not as severe. Within a year, it was only the occasional craving. Three years on and I have no cravings at all. I've done it. I've rid my life of a poisonous drug which had the potential to do me serious harm.

So when anyone else out there says that they can't stop drinking, I don't listen to them. I had a problem, I recognised it, and I quit. Yes, it is hard, yes it takes willpower, but we all have willpower and we can use it to better ourselves. If I can do it, so can you.

Mum suggested we leave the fridge and see if the new tenant would like it, and they'd just pay us a hundred dollars or so for it.
We have to get everything out by Thursday, and I have to be moved into the spare room but then, because Jess comes home on Friday and will want her bedroom back! At the moment it looks like a bomb went off in it!

When I move back home next weekend, and after my bills are paid, I am going to buy a Hyundai i30. It'll take me at least two years to pay off the loan, but I'll manage. I need a new car, anyway. My little Ford has done close to 200,000 thousand kilometres and won't last much longer.
I have been desperate for an i30 since before they even came on the market. I remember reading the paper, and flicking through the Cars Guide (good thing I did, too!) and I saw this new car which was about to be officially released. I fell in love with this gorgeous little car, and created a scrapbook full of i30's and other models.

Unsure of what color I would prefer. My favorite color is blue, so I will probably purchase a blue one, but the silver ones look great also...as do the red, green, black, white and green ones!

Whatever color I get doesn't really matter. Its the actual car that counts, and I intend to be driving my little Hyundai for at least the next ten years.

Apparently, I did the right thing, which was actually the wrong thing. Make sense to you? Yeah, me either.

Last week we had a visit from Head Office. They pop around every six months or so. This was one of the smaller visits, and while we prepared for it, the bloke who came around didn't even go out the back to see us cook or clean, just sat down in the dining area with Inga and had a chat.

Before I explain what happened, I should tell you how the system works: We have what is known as 'Split Function Service'. This means that one person serves, and the other person is the 'expeditor' or 'runner', meaning we get the food and fries, and prepare the drinks. On busy days, we might have two people serving, one person on drinks, and one person running.
You serve the customer, then get them to stand to the side behind their receipt (there are clear markings stating this) while you serve the next person. Once you have served the second person, the order for the first person should be ready.

An SOC is basically a review of how the store runs and how well we follow procedure. If we fail, we lose the SOC until the next review.

On this particular day, Suzie was serving and I was running. All was going well, until itgot busy. There was only one person serving, and Suzie couldn't handle 10 or more customers on her own, so I did what I believed what the right thing, and immediately jumped on a register to start serving.

While I was serving, some bloke apparently had to wait 'too long' for his hotcakes, and he complained they were cold when he finally got them - which is impossible, as they go into a warmer, which keeps them lovely and hot until we place them on the tray.

Chez told me about this the other day. She said I did the right thing in serving, but the guy from Head Office and Inga had looked at the cameras to see how long this guy had to wait, and they reckoned it was too long. So I was told that even if it is busy, and there is one person serving, I am not allowed to serve ANY customers until I am told to. Fine by me - but when I don't serve customers, Relpha comes out and yells at me because I am not serving!
So basically, we are expected to show initiative, while at the same time not showing any initiative! (*)(*)(*)(*)ed if we do and (*)(*)(*)(*)ed if we don't!

I am completely lost as what to do. Get yelled at for serving, get yelled at for not serving...the old boss left because she couldn't stand how complicated things had become. Maybe its about time I walked out.

Forum Is So Slow Lately!

I wonder if anyone else has noticed it? I think the old PF was better than this newer version. It may have had many database errors, but at least it...

I wonder if anyone else has noticed it? I think the old PF was better than this newer version. It may have had many database errors, but at least it was faster. I didn't have to wait five minutes for a page to load, which is what I have been doing tonight. Click on a link and nothing happens. Click it again and still nothing happens. Wait three minutes, still nothing. Restart computer, PF won't even load at all. When it finally does, its faster. Then five minutes later, its moving along at a snails pace again.

I won't lie, this is bloody frustrating. Many forums are out there with VB 4, and they have tons of members, and tons of posts. Okay, maybe not as many members and posts as we have here, but still - why do those forums run at a super fast speed and this one doesn't, even after a long awaited upgrade?

I keep telling everyone to be patient but I guess I come across as impatient myself, having written down my frustrations.
This is the best site on the web, if you ask me. I have accounts at many different forums, and this is the only one I have stuck with since I registered - except www.evboard.com which is a fansite for Evanescence, and I have been there for around six years.
I intend to stay at this forum for as long as it lasts, but it needs some major improvements. We know a lot of work has gone into this new upgrade, and for that, we are all grateful, but I think we can all agree that we need to improve the speed.

To achieve this, I don't care if we have to delete a lot of features, including the rep list if it will improve the speed of the forum.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but something has been very obvious to me for over a week now, and that is the number of posts made on this forum per day. When I log on each day, I am lucky to find 2,200unread posts, whereas the old PF had well over 3,500. The posts on this forum have dropped considerably, and I wonder if this is due to the speed of the forum, not allowing members to post often enough, or if its simply because members have become sick of the forum. I wish I knew what the answer to that was. Feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts!

Well, I have eight boxes packed so far. Only problem is they are all full of books. Yep, that's right, I needed eight boxes to clear out both my bookcases. The DVD/CD cabinet will be next, then the kitchen cupboards.

Moving day will be a few days before the 1st of June, which is when I have to return the keys to the real estate office and collect my bond. I have to cancel my electricity, phone, and internet accounts, and organise for other bills to be redirected to my parents place. Will have to get onto that later in the week.

I wish I didn't have to move out. I have been in this place for five years now but I am finding it almost impossible to save money. If I had a full time job it wouldn't be so hard, but being casual, I never know how much money I will take home each week, which makes it difficult to budget. At least at home I should be able to save at least $100 a month, which should get me to Queensland soon enough.

Another good thing about moving home is that I will have the money to pay for a few TAFE courses. I need to get my Responsible Serving Of Alcohol Certificate, Gambling Certificate, as well as my Food Handling Certificate. I can also get Barista training there as well. If I wanted, I could learn another language. I'll probably opt for sign language, I should have started learning it years ago, but there is no time like the present, I guess.

I have spoken with a friend of mine, whose brother owns a bakery in Elmore. Its a thirty minute drive away, but he has a full time position open, so I told Hannah (his sister) that I was interested and she is going to try and pull some strings for me. Its a decent job, the hours are 7am to 3pm one week, and 9am to 5.30pm the next week, with two weekends a month. The pay is $40,000 a year. I could buy a new car AND put down a deposit on a house in just 12 months if I managed to get that job. It'll cost me a few grand in petrol each year, but even with the travel expenses, I would still be taking home nearly double what I take home per year at Macca's. So I hope that Hannah can help me out and get this job for me. The only thing I wonder about is why the previous employee didn't work out. They had a girl work for them a few months ago when the job was advertised, but she was let go. I wonder if I should ask why that was. It could have been something simple, such as her not turning up for a shift, or it could be that the owners are too hard on their employees.
I really need another job though, so I'd be willing to try anything.

Its so aggravating when you read in the paper about a job you would be happy to do, if only you could be trained on coffee making, for example, but the advertisement only wants people who are already experienced.
How can you get experience if no one is willing to give you a chance? Surely it doesn't take that long to show someone how to make coffee! Its just a matter of pressing a button and heating up the milk, then pouring it into the mug. I don't understand what is so hard that an employer can't spare a couple of hours to show someone the ropes. Its especially infuriating when you read an advertisement for a 'Junior' - which means the employer wants a teenager, someone who is still in school, usually. It makes me mad when they say 'experience essential'. How can a teenager have experience when they have never had a job? Isn't the whole point of getting a job to gain experience? I feel sorry for kids these days, employers are making it harder and harder for school age kids to enter the workforce, which probably explains why many of them turn up at McDonalds and work weekends with us.

Oh well. Fingers crossed for this job. Its only customer service, which isn't that hard at all. Hopefully they are happy to train me on coffee making, though! I hear they are desperate for someone, so with Hannah's good words, maybe I have a chance...

The Religious Argument Against SSM Is A Failure

Whenever the issue of gay marriage comes up, one of the most common argument against it is the religious argument.

The argument goes something like this: Since God is the Creator of marriage, only God can decide who is to be marred or not. As the Bible condemns homosexuality, it is clear that marriage can be between one man, and one woman only.

The problem is this: People who use this argument must prove that God exists before their argument can become valid.

If you are arguing that God created marriage, you need to provide facts to back that claim up - and that doesn't mean the Bible. It means that you must prove that God exists, in order to prove that God created marriage, which is your argument. If you cannot prove the existence of God, your argument is invalid and must be dismissed.

In my opinion, there can be no religious argument in opposition to same sex marriage as God plays a central part to that argument. And as I have said, without proof of the existence of God, there can be no valid argument.

I have just finished reading a book. Not just any book, mind, One of those rare books that hooks you from the first page, and keeps you reading into the early hours of the morning. The kind of book that makes you toss and turn at night wondering how it will end. The book I read was one that most people probably haven't read, by an author most people probably haven't heard of:

<img src="http://www.politicalforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12018&d=1334475892&thumb=1" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.

Its about a defense lawyer who is about to be suspended from practicing for three years because of his 'tactics' in the courtroom. He has just ten cases to get through before his suspension starts. One of those involves a young woman accused of killing her elderly husband, who happens to be a billionaire. There is a mountain of evidence against her, and Harrison J Walker, nicknamed Jaywalker, has to work hard to prove her innocence, as he wants to go out on a high, having a ninety percent acquittal rate.

The book is the first in a series. There are five books, so I have four more to get through:

- Bronx Justice
- Depraved Indifference
- Overkill
- Guilty as Sin

The plots of each sound interesting. As I would highly recommend the first novel, I think its safe to say I would recommend the others without having even read the first page!

I have a lot of favorite music, but most recently, I have rediscovered my love of Evanescence. Their song 'What You Want' is being played quite frequently on radio, and as I am in the car a lot, I can't help but listen to it. It's not bad:

I went to see them in February 2007 and while they were not bad, their attitude on stage could have been improved. Its great to sing the songs you know your fans love, but completely wrong to just thrown the mic down after the show and walk off backstage. I lost my affection for them after that. I wasn't even looking forward to the new (self titled) album but after hearing the debut single, I think it is more than likely I'll buy it for myself.

I will not go so far as to get the Ev logo: <img src="http://www.politicalforum.com/attachments/australia-nz-pacific/11919d1334129883t-welcome-political-forum-200px-eskinnylogo.png" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.

- people who seem to think I might want to enjoy their cigarette smoke - I don't
- people who expect you to move out of the way for them because stepping to the side is just too difficult
- people who talk on their mobile phones while talking to you
- people who sit in the cinema and talk all through the film, especially those who give away the plot

Does anyone have any more to add?

I thought I might as well be the first person to post a blog here.

We've just been upgraded to VB 4, and boy, it is hard to get used to. So many new buttons and fancy colors. Its rather fun randomly clicking on links to see what will happen, though.

Some people might be more upset over the fact that the rep list is not yet displayed on the main page. I'm more upset over the loss of my credits. I had 2 million, and they have been converted into points! And even worse, you can't earn points as easily as you earned credits! At least I have the most points of anyone, that's something. 8-)

I do like it though, I just wish I knew what these colored bars meant, and everything else! Its so confusing. When you post on a forum for four years and get used to the layout, its strange when it changes because you have to figure out where everything is again, and you don't know what will happen if you click this link, or that link etc.

Reputation points (the total) are displayed in our profiles, which is interesting. I have over 70,000 of them. If you ask me I should have 2 million, like my credits (RIP) but they have been scattered to the wind...:disbelief:

Must have been a big upgrade, because when I came home I jumped online, expecting to see around 5,000 posts - which there usually is - and all I saw was 570! Goodness me, people need to get their fingers racing across the keyboard!
