Oh and one last thing, if the EU were to apply the U.S. standard for poverty, over HALF of EU citizens would be considered Poor.

America is not a Socialist country, this is why the only democrats who ever win, are democrats who SOUND like Republicans (Hello Bill Clinton - Low taxes, Free Trade, Welfare Reform, Era of Big Government Over - Sounds Republican).

Too many people take citizenship in this country for granted, they want to just take, take and take, but give nothing back in return.
Defending our freedom is a noble thing, but if we throw nearly all of our tax money at the military to fight off "barbarians," then what else are we really defending? We'd be protecting a shell of a country with little to show for.

Also, fighting is not the only answer. There are negotiations, diplomacy, treaties, and the like. Fighting should be the final alternative, one that we turn to when all other attempts at compromise and peace have failed. However, if an invading army were to appear on our shores, then - yes - I would gladly take up arms!

Besides, I am paying - through my taxes - for someone else to fight for me.

Default Back to the Question...

The U.S. government does NOT need more taxes. In addition, we do NOT need to raise the taxes we already have.

We need to streamline government and reduce (preferably eliminate) waste, fraud, and abuse. There is plenty of money already out there; we just need to stop expanding programs.

Finally, we need to trash the current tax code, and go with a flat national sales tax.

Default New Political Documentary

Hey I just wanted to let everyone know about a tax reform film that started production June 12th. It is called An Inconvenient Tax and is being produced by the film company Life is My Movie, based out of Georgia. The movie is a completely unbiased analysis of tax reform, which is a pressing issue in America. The Bush tax cuts cease in 2010 and it is vital all of us are aware of the possibilities for change. The 5 directors are driving around for two months interviewing influential politicians, world renowned economists, and advocates of all proposals of tax reform. It will come out in November in conjunction with the presidential election. The directors will list people as they are interviewed and there should be some pretty big names. Check out the synopsis on the site and keep up with the frequently updated blog!

Here's a concept, government should try, I said try to reduce and simplify government for the People whom they work for.

But then we get much more inflation, as Milton Friedman proved. The only sane course of action is to drastically cut spending.

No, they don't need any more money. They're just wasting the vast majority of it.

TB,

I wasn't condoning what the Fed does, In fact I am totally opposed to printing more USDs. I think it's time to pay the piper for living beyond our means. I have to live within my budget and Americans have been spending like drunken sailors for too long. The current POTUS has done just as the previous ones have back to the 70s, spent money to build there political bases for their own gain.

Where's my pitchfork?
