When looking for a second home, I encountered some of the nastiest people in the world in Vancouver. It appears, they do not like Texans.

Why would I want to share public transportation with these radicals?

Radicals? Really?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver has been ranked the best city to live in in North America according to the Mercer survey.

This particular list looked at quality of life in 215 cities around the world taking into account access to public transit, what it's like to get around by car, and even the availability of water.

Mercer's full quality of living list
There are TWO Vancouvers in North America. Oddly enough, the geniuses at NEWS1130 don't directly distinguish which one Mercer is talking about.

In a comparison between the two Vancouvers, I think I prefer America's Vancouver. Canada's Vancouver is one of the ugliest cities architechturally I've ever visited. Every building looks almost identical to every other building, and the style is just hideous.

Don't get me wrong now. I liked Vancouver BC. It was clean, the people were nice, and the beer was decent. I could almost tolerate the sucky weather, but to have to look at those fugly buildings every day... Ugh.

After reading my post, I should have been more specific.

I'm not saying all people in Vancouver are radicals, I'm sure it's a small percentage.

I just thought it was strange to encounter such radical people in a small city and then thinking of sharing public transportation with these people doesn't seem inviting!

Probably because News1130 is a Vancouver, Canada radio station and they assume their Vancouver, Canada listeners know which Vancouver they are referring too.

Where did you get the old picture? Those buildings are long gone.

Here's downtown Vancouver. Using either your crayons or Photoshop why don't you circle all the identical buildings and post the results for us.

That's so nice. Except that I'm not a NEWS1130 radio listener, and you posted your story on an international message board...

The pic I posted is what Vancouver looked like when I was there, leaving me with the impression that it was a nice place to visit but distinctly ugly.

Jeez, Dougie. What crawled up your butt and died?

Pardon me for not expecting a city to blow up/flatten its entire downtown area and rebuild from square one...

Sheesh.
