I believe people in the Prairie's still stab wild boar to death with large knives.

They also did that in "Lord of the Flies."

The seals are lucky, at least a pick-axe to the brain is quick.

and then today I read in the paper that France is doing nothing to stop the extinction of the Giant Hampster, instead they're planning a super highway right through the last environment it has in France...where those save the cute baby seal protesters now? kind of difficult to hug a giant hampster when it's trying to remove your hand...

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...rticle1145626/

I wonder how many of the French members of the EU Parliament voted to ban the import of seal pelts...

Domestic animals have been breed to learn a wider variety of tasks. Their capacity for learning over instinct is greater. You cannot take a wild born animal and train it to work with cops, or to see for blind people. And the domestic animals that are trained would not otherwise become them on their own.

parrots are the equal to dogs, crows, ravens also...the intelligence is unknown to you because you have no experience with them, are there others that you don't know about???
i'm not eating parrots... you're the one that thinks its OK to eat smart animals, why do you advocate their intelligence? If you're saying various animals posses intelligence that we are unable to recognize, that is preposterous. animals show signs of intelligence or they do not. i'm also perfectly OK with not eating or killing animals that fall within a grey area, that may or may not be smart enough. like i said before, if it was presented that chicken are not dumb, that turkeys are not dumb, then i would say its just as wrong as killing dolphins and apes and dogs.

there was something the government could do but it choose to do nothing...how about cutting off european fishers from our continental waters, protesting euro countries that practise inhumane slaughter...
i don't want my government starting a trade war. that makes this much worse for everyone else, you know, who doesn't seal hunt for a living, which is like 99% of the population.

sorry you're wrong, there is no difference in intelligence between wild and domestic versions of the same animal it's only behaviour modification...I'll willing to bet undomesticated lions can be taught more tricks than a domesticated house cat...

it's not at all it's all you, you want to see intelligence in cute pets but don't see it in their wild nasty state...pigs, wild and domestic are equal and as intelligent as dogs, no one cares because they're not cute and taste yummy...Octupus are rated very high on the intelligence scale, again comaparable to a dog possibly smarter, my wife loves to eat them...unfortunetly for the Octopus celebrities don't want to have their picture taken hugging them...

you see what you want to see when it's convenient or tasty

that can be said about any profession, who doesn't slaughter pigs or raise cattle or make cars for a living? like 99% of the population...so it's ok to eliminate jobs as long as it's your job that's not on the line, how considerate....
