When this first happened I thought it was a big waste of money to have a public enquiry but after seeing the number of lies and outright perjury by the RCMP I'd say it was something that had to happen.
I have a lot less respect for the RCMP now because of this.

Obviously. It has been evident for a while that the RCMP has become a partial joke, nearing complete joke status. Worse than this is whats going on with the Canadian Firearms Program. The RCMP is basically taking months to classify new firearms when it should take days, this prevents them from being imported and sold, much to their delight. And they have mis-classified many firearms to the prohibited class essentially banning them from lawful civilian possession, like the GSG-5. Those are only a few examples.
Why all provinces don't have their own provincial police force with an indepedent civilian oversight agency is beyond belief. I'm glad Ontario does.
And there should be a federal policing indepedent oversight agency to prevent the abuse from going on with federal policing.
There was a report outlining dozens of suggestions for RCMP reform. We need to stop focusing on the use of tazers, and start focusing on getting the RCMP to remove its head out of its ass and start implimenting these reforms.
