This past February, I got a card from the Warren county NY board of elections. This postcard is a reminder card for voters. It states where elections are held, on what day, and which elections you are eligible to vote in....however,
My card did indeed state where the polling place was. It stated what days the two elections (primary and general) that I would be eligible to vote in---(IN MY CASE, BOTH THE BOXES FOR "PRIMARY" AND 'GENERAL WERE MARKED WITH AN "X".) and what days these two elections would be held (for the presidency)... I went to the polling place, and was...turned away. My name, which always was on the books before (I"ve lived and voted in this county for 3 years now) was not on the books this day. For months, I have sent e-mails and postcards to the NYS board of elections, and the Warren county board of elections, and no one has bothered to get back to me! Is this a conspiracy? Is it just a stupid mistake? I know owning up to mistakes is not the repulican way, but not answering a simple question...how the heck long does it take to answer a simple post card or e-mail??? Additionally, twice (Nov 03 & Jan. 04) I've tried to change from the Green party===once as an independant, once as a Democrat. The first time, Warren county lost my form==or so they claim! The second time, I was told I couldn't change my party until AFTER the November elections! I am very clearly being denied the right to vote. America has ceased to be a democracy. America is still a great nation---just not as great or wonderful as it used to be....a mule's backside of a man can carry a loaded gun, but an peace=loving woman can't vote. This is bad, this is very, very bad....Susan B. Anthony and Elisabeth Cady Stanton must be rolling around in their graves....comments welcome!

Let's not forget how the computers that hold all the information to do with who can vote etc. obviously have the right to mess up occasionally ... convenient that 99.9% of the time it messes up in favour of the current person in charge.
Sorry, was I being cynical. Oh well, I'll get over it.

Everywhere in America voting is controlled locally. Believe it or not George Bush has no control what so ever who can vote. This is a big country and local governments vary greatly in competence and honsety. If you are concerned, sign up as an election judge or observer - they are usually voluntary positions and they usually don't get enough volunteers. I was recently working in Chicago where the Democrats control everything and steal all the elections. I worked with a small group of Republicans that were volunteering and making slow progress in making the elections honest in one or two precincts.

I live in England, the local councils do seem to have their own way. Our council is awful, its just too interested in money.

I grew up in South Florida, and registered to vote the day I turned 18. When the 200o election rolled around, I was directed to 5 different polling places before allowed to vote. The place I ended up voting was no where near my registered address. You wanna talk about crazy, try voting in Florida, I think you have all heard how it goes down there.
