I have no idea if this is going on outside of the South Florida region, but they have banned candy selling on campus (this is high school mind you), they took out every single caffinated item from the coca-cola vending machines and replaced it with DIET SODA!, they have even taken Gatorade and replaced it with strawberry or lemon flavored water sponsored by powerade! It's totally different. They closed down snack machines until before and after school! They have also banned all electronic devices except cellphones and even we can't use them at all!

However they didn't find it suitable to take out any of the fatty, greasy, positively UNHEALTHY cafeteria food and reform the lunch menu. They even raised the prices on that inedible food by a $1.50! Of course, thank heavens, there are some outlaws that sell candy discreetly and avoid getting caught. I don't doubt they are making MUCH, MUCH more than any of the cafeteria ladies are. But that's irrelevant!

If this isn't injustice i don't know what is!

It should be (and is) susceptible to public outcry and parental opinion, but injustice? Because you can't buy Mountain Dew in the school?

Since it is high school, I don't really see the problem.
It is strange that they took out the caffeine but kept the junkfood though.
Generally a school district is only as sensible as the bulk of the PTA... in otherwords not very, but it differs a bit from district to district.

Just be glad you don't live in Kansas!

They nolonger sell candy or caffinated drinks at my highschool eaither, and i am in TN. it is spreading, and it is rediculus. everything you said in you quote happend at my school to. They are trying to make us into zombies. I have also figured out that anything i need to no for life i learned iun the 6 th grade and i am now only really learning after school hours. Schools are gay just about everything about it pisses me off exept for lacrosse and a few teachers, the only teachers that ever tought me anything, and it wasn't even school related.

People are so afraid of others getting big, it's amazing that they find time to do something constructive with their time. I see it like this a person 16 knows what they are putting in their bodies and they know what they like or not. What america want's is a land of skinny people because they assume skinny = healthy underminding the laws of genetics. My point is simple live and let live. I heard they wanted to ban fatty acids in New York and I'm like What? if you don't want to eat it fine eat some grass and let me Enjoy this fatty acid.

Good. They should get rid of all the diet soda and sugar water,too, and replace all of it with 100% all-natural fruit juices. Then they should completely remove all candy machines and make small packets of trail mix available to students between classes.

Nice. The only electronic devices students should be allowed to use are calculators and maybe electronic notebooks, if it's warranted.

Baby steps. Yeah, school food definitely needs some improve in our high schools, but let them go at their own pace.

That sucks.
