We don't let just anyone pick who's allowed to be a surgeon, why don't we have the same standards (or indeed better) for selecting the president?. After all a surgeon can only kill one person at a time but a bad president can kill, well potentially, everyone.

Anyone who is a citizen of the United States should be allowed to vote regardless of their intellectual level or knowledge (even lack there of) of this country.

No exceptions.

The matter of voting should be open to all. What needs to change is the extent to which the masses can affect an individual based on the popular vote. The masses shall forever be manipulated by those in power or seeking power and nothing will alter this irrefutable fact. However, if the extent to which the vote of the pawn can influence the life of another is reduced then you have a fitting compromise.

To not exersize your right to vote is sad. To not allow someone to vote is even worse.

Let us agree that the very concept of limiting a vote based on intellect is both restrictive and destructive to the very nature of a democracy. After all what are the persons of average intellect to do when the people of superior thinking decide that they are too stupid to be allowed to vote, and then the genuis's of the nation follow suit and before you know it we are living in an oligarchy. The right to vote must extend to people of all walks of intelligence. (Though I must admit, occasionally listening to some of the people in my community, I seriously consider shipping them off to Europe or some other far-flung place where their misinformed idiocies can fester in the form of one great and all unknowing semblance of government by the mentally disabled)
