The ignorant do tend to paint a group with a "wide brush". Here's a balanced response from a Muslim to racists and small thinking people who attempt to raise hatred against Muslims by posting outrageous comments and titles such as "Muslims are retarded."

Hear, hear. But, all too often, the muslim community remains silent in the face of abhorent prejudice and bigotry. Witness, for instance, the comments that at least one acknowledged muslim in this forum has made about gays, lesbians, the bahai, and women who don't conform to his archaic ideas of how life should be lived.

It's sickening.

So, let's say something openly. I have no problem with Islam. I do have MAJOR problems with the treatment of women, gays/lesbians, and others BY Islamics. And, I'm not going to be silent in the face of that sort of bigotry and hate, not to mention the advocacy of KILLING those who don't conform to your beliefs.

I don't care WHAT religion is condoning these beliefs, whether it is those idiots from god hates (*)(*)(*)(*) or the local mosque, it isn't "tolerance" to tolerate bigotry or hate.

There is good and bad in everything , often I disagree with Sunni But I still have other subjects where I agree , or like when we chit chatted about Maine . I do not hate him or anyone for that matter . What I hate is the extremism.

I agree with both of you. My understanding though is that Muslims do not operate as one unified church like you would think of, say as a Roman Catholic for example. There is no "pope" of the Muslim church. So generalized comments about all Muslims being bad or blaming 9/11 only goes to insult Muslims who had nothing to do with it. Why should these people be on the defensive about their beliefs? There seems to be a concentration of attention only on the extreme Muslims and that includes the press. The average American Muslims life is probably routine and would not get the attention of a reader.
