Default Washinton state bans sale of M rated games to minors

Finnally a change for the better!Video games are known to influence teens and young adults in real life. While most of the teens will deny this the evidence is all around. The games suck away hours of free time from your kids and influence them more than you know. Some may bring up the topic of wahingtons already hurting economy. This is ONLY MORE EVIDANCE the govenor of wahington and its people are willing to do what it takes to protect their children from violance and other negative influence. If your on the other side of this argument AND you play video games, tell me how much do you weigh?

Video games don't influence anyone, except those people who are likely to be influenced by anything e.g movies, t.v, books, the Bible, because they are "mentally ill" or whatever you want to call them. Should we ban all of those other things ?

Why bother? Video games have been proven to do nothing in children other than increase there social skills. Seems pointless IMO

Default Who cares?

They ban lots of things. But somehow people get them. Odd how that works. Trust me, any 13 year old that wants a video game rated M can get one.

That's because no one bothered enforcing the age restrictions.

Exactly. It's very hard for a 13 year old get any beer because it's enforced. If they did the same for games (which they won't) then it would very hard for a minor to get a m rated game.

Default laws are worthless

if they aren't enforced. You can see how well immigration law works, for example. . .

They don't enforce them because they realise that it is pretty piontless, it should be up to the parents to decide whether they let their kids play these games, because unless your kid is likely to negatively influenced by the games then why stop him playing them?

Isn't it a shame that we applaud our government taking on authority that belongs in parental hands.

Exactly! As a parent I wouldn't allow my daughter to play Grand Theft Auto. But I don't expect the government to tell me not to. It's my job to regulate what I feel comfortable with the toys I allow my child to play with.

And just as a little observation...I am 32 years old. I grew up on Woody Woodpecker and Tom and Jerry. And I never went out and flung a person off of a cliff a la Roadrunner and the Coyote. With all of the tolerance classes and sensitivity that are being shoved down our children's throats, kids today are more hateful and violent than I have ever seen in recent history.
