As it might be known to you, last January, Microsoft had to face new antitrust investigation by European Union that charges American world's largest software company of illegitimate concealing the software code for its ubiquitous Windows operating system from other competitors which is described as a significant concession toward greater openness and compatibility with competitors.
However, it is only half-truth. Of course, Microsoft has a lot to withhold. For example, European Windows users would show great surprise if only they knew that Microsoft uses build-in hidden bookmarks and other hidden applications to run surveillance after European users in behalf of US secret services. That's why I recommend all Europeans who value their privacy and safety (especially in case you've got some business of your own and have information you don't want anybody else to know) to give up using Microsoft software and change-over for open-source software like Linux, etc. Take care! |

It's pretty easy to be paranoid about stuff like that, since 99% of us (including me) don't know much about computer software. How can I know whether that's paranoid or not?
I mean, why wouldn't Microsoft spy if they can get away with it? There's a lot of leverage and advantage to be gained from spying. The only reasons are moral, and I've heard a lot that corporations (like Microsoft) are inherently immoral in their behavior -- why that should be when they're run by humans, I can't imagine, but it seems to be a popular theory. But then, maybe that's paranoid, too ... |

Well, great. Can you now explain to me why that's paranoid? Or, better yet, why it isn't true. We all know the old saying, right, about how being paranoid doesn't mean nobody's out to get you?
And of course the reverse, which is that just because everyone's out to get you doesn't mean you can't also be a paranoid twit ... |

I love some conspiracy theories. this one is great for example. technically, by installing a powerful firewall (like comodo) absolutely NO DATA can go outside without your permission. btw, those who should be under surveillance are much smarter than dumb Microsoft engineers. if I had to rate this theory among other conspiracy theories, I would rate it as pure paranoia!!
