I once knew a guy who worked for a large Alabama university. He needed to hire a soil scientist with a PHD for a particular position. The university told him to search for a black female in order to get double quota points and they told him not to advertise. Now, wouldn't you think finding a black female soil scientist with a doctorate would be hard enough?

to look for women and minorities when hiring, if all else is equal I'd happily hire the minority, we just get so very few applicants who are minorities. But I've never been told "you can't hire any white people." That would be racist.

Here in the US, reverse discrimination is called equal opportunity.
