Scientific Fraud...
I heard this on NPR so I don't have a link.
But apparently, it has come out into the open that the scientific paper written up by Korean scientists indicating success in creating individualized stem cells through cloning was built on falsified data. One of the co-authors just found out and has made it public. The paper will be revoked.
This bothers me. Scientific dishonesty like this has major implications. Other scientists may waste a lot of time and resources trying to replicate results that never occurred in the first place when they should be researching in a different manner. Thankfully many of the scientists working with stem cells are already working along different lines.
But nonetheless this is troublesome as well as disappointing. And South Korea is embarrassed and disheartened, needless to say.
