In May 2002, the U.S. placed tariffs of 27 percent on softwood lumber imports from Canada. The tariffs were rendered illegal by WTO panels and NAFTA trade councils. The U.S. was told to remove the tariffs and refund the money. Yet, these tariffs still exist and Canada has seen no money returned; although in a good faith measure, the U.S. reduced them by about half. Now Canada is only be screwed half as much as before, just great.
Why hasn't the U.S. removed the illegal tariffs, which have costed Canada billions of dollars and tens of thousands of job. Who knows, but when the U.S. preaches free trade then slaps tariffs on goods, its not only hypocritical, but dishonorable and pathetic.
