These days a HS degree won't allow most people to maximize their opportunities. A lucky few might network themselves into an OJT position, but most people need the boost of higher education to find a satisfying and financially rewarding career.
I agree. If I could do it over again, I would have went to votech. Its worth it. You learn a trade and you get to work more with your hands. When I have kids, I would like to try to talk them into attending votech in hs before going to college.

I was just thinking how delighted I am to see Sarah on fox. She just fits in.

These are some of the best people in the business. Fox out numbers the rest.

I've mentored a few myself in this direction. The first question to ask them is "What do you want to do?" If they don't know, I always ask them to consider the military for four years but I do emphasize it isn't for everybody.

As it happened, my career choice ended up required a four year degree. My dad was an Army officer and pilot with two tours in Viet Nam under his belt. My plan was to graduate HS and go to the WOC program as a helicopter pilot with my next stop "Viet Nam". Unfortunately (Providence?) the war was winding down and the program was canceled in 1973, the year before I graduated. The only way for me to become a military pilot was through college. My brother is 18 years my junior. He enlisted, did 5 years as a Combat Engineer then went into the very program I wanted, WOC. He just completed his second year-long tour. This time in Afghanistan.

Regardless how they do it, higher education is the only real way for a young person to advance. The first real investment a young person can make is in themselves. The second one is in a house providing their job allows the stability to own one.

They definitely take care of their own on there. I just saw Bill O'Reilly tear the Politico guy to shreds about an hour ago after the Politico guy couldn't answer the question why there were only two positive MSM articles/segments about her Big Weekend.

Politico guy? Was this the same Republican politico who said "she's a master, not of facts, figures, or insightful policy recommendations, but at the fine art of the nonanswer, the glittering generality"?

That was a good article. I wonder if Palin thinks she would be able to avoid any interviews and tough questions if she tries to run for President? It will be a hoot to see how she segues away from a direct question - and how she handles the embarrassment of not knowing simple answers? More intense and entertaining than the Couric fiasco, I'm sure!

Is that what conservatives want - some airhead that rambles on and on about nothing? I guess so!

Ask the White House, they seem to think she is important enough to mock... They have either validated her, or made themselves look very foolish! LOL

No disagreement that the Pelosi-style idea of Politics is "Give us your money, we know what's best for you". The problem is I don't see the GOP as being any better. Palin speaks folksy, but doesn't offer any real solutions. The GOP is too busy tearing down the President and the Democrats to spend time offering any substantial ideas on how to fix jobs, the economy, health care and the WOT. This makes them look like they don't have anything better to offer. I don't like the Democrats, but I don't see the GOP as being anything better. Not you, Jollee, but the acrimony, name-calling and general demeanor of those who support the increasingly extremist GOP doesn't impress me at all.

The only reason they made fun of her, was only because she bashes Obama every chance she gets - not because they are afraid of her, and it's about time that the WH starts shooting back at her stupid comments.

Her ratings just dropped. I think the more she talks, the more that people are able to figure out just how vapid she really is - and even the Republicans are beginning to change their mind on her.

Validated her? Whatever floats your boat.
