It depends on where you live, Heroclitus. In the United States, my quotation usage was correct. The commas may have been unnecessary, but they were far from incorrect. Sometimes I use commas, for the sake of continuity in rhythm, quite extensively, depending on the conversation.

I'm still a registered member of the GOP hoping it will change, but I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for something better. The only party with any possible prospects for me is the Libertarian Party, but they still have some issues to work out. Like many other things this next election day, depending on what develops between now and November 2010 may help me decide whether or not to stick with the GOP or move to the LP.
