it can't be, bcecause waterboarding is far worse. in waterboarding, you tie the person down in a prostrate, inverted position and pour water DOWN on him -- it's psychologically designed to maximize terror.

however, it's also elaborate. i think this guy acted on the spur of the moment -- he was thinking, hey, waterboarding's cool (because that's what i've been hearing cons say for years) so of course just dunking my daughter's head in a little water is even more cool. ditto the stress positions: he thought, hey, it's cool to force people to stand in agonizing positions for hours, so of course it's extra-cool to force my daughter to sit in her own urine. that's nowhere near as bad.

personally i think it'll come out that cons basically trained this guy.

I agree with Granite on this. I am amazed that it took a whole page of posts before someone pointed out that this is not waterboarding. This is child abuse and should be treated as such, and that guy obviously has issues and needs psychiatric help. Too bad the kid has to grow up that way.

Yelm police chief Todd Stancil said Sgt Tabor was arrested on 31 January.

The girl was then found hiding in a locked bathroom in the soldier's home, Mr Stancil said on Monday.

"From what I understand it is very similar to waterboarding," Mr Stancil said of the alleged offence, according to the AFP news agency.

the parallel to me is clear. cons made exploiting personal idiosyncracies and fears acceptable, as my link demonstrates. this guy is simply carrying on that philosophy. i don't see where my reasoning has gone astray here. why don't you explain to me how if this guy is listening to cons, that he's not just taking your lessons to heart. he's just applying them to someone you would rather your torture techniques not be applied to.

cons are on record saying fake drowning is an acceptable form of interrogation. ditto stress positions/being forced to be smeared in your own waste (do i need to re-post that horrific picture of the guy from abu ghraib covered in feces? that's what happens in stress positions -- you urinate and defecate yourself). ditto finding out what your victim's deepest fears are and exploiting them.

cons are on record saying all these things are ok. so sorry your disciples are applying these lessons to victims you never intended. but hey, no one ever said publicly endorsing torture would be easy, ethically.
