Default Republicans ignore facts

A new study done during the 2004 election shows that partisans on both sides of the aisle do not use the reasoning part of the brain when making decisions and get a rush from ignoring those facts.

So, the next time you are accused of ignoring facts, the accuser may be right!

Default You can put that one in the duh category.

I see it on this site every day.

The test subjects on both sides of the political aisle reached totally biased conclusions by ignoring information that could not rationally be discounted, Westen and his colleagues say.
Rush and Hannity have made a good living doing that. Now the left is trying to get in on it.

Default .

Did you guys watch the pre-election debates between Bush and Kerry in 2004? There was some non-partisan verification of the 'facts' that they both sited during the debates. It was crazy how much of what they stated as 'fact' were flat out lies. Not to mention how much they bent the truth (which I also consider to be lying).

To be fair, sometimes inaccuracies are inevitable when you're trying to distill a complex issue down to a quick sound bite. A lot of the debate errors were in that category -- what they said was roughly true, but either out of context or otherwise misleading. Others were more murky -- like saying "23 percent of Democrats are so-and-so" when that figure was based on one recent study. There's a basis for saying it, but it's misleading to imply that it is established, proven fact.

In the debates I gave the candidates a pass if what they said was mostly true, or at least based on an actual source of some sort.
