Default Globalization's next wave

http://www.washtimes.com/commentary/...0154-2138r.htm

Many workers, executives and political leaders in the United States and other industrialized nations see the advancing Chinese behemoth as an economic threat. Perhaps they should see China as the West's new land of opportunity.

Could be interesting to see how people feel about this. I, for one, am absolutely-one-hundred-percent in favor.

Default Human rights?

I think that nations should restrict trade with China until there is an improvement in it`s record on human rights.

Default globalists don't care if it’s not a US company

MRMAGQQ appears to belive that what the article says
Quote:
Regardless of where a country sits economically, globalization is likely to bring growth: new development for countries on the rise, redevelopment for countries like the United States, Japan and Germany and new opportunities for all.
Globalization will fuel the global economy; strategy and innovation will define the winners.
Question if our balance of trade with China continues to grow in the negative for us and our deficits continue to rise from unbridled spending and the Chinese continue to gain control of one industry after another where will we get the resources to make these glorious globalized investments?

There well may be companies who will be investing and making money in China and the 3rd world areas mentioned in the article but it is becoming very much less likely that it will be US companies. Oh I forgot you globalists don't care if it’s not a US company any global conglomerate even if owned by the UAE is fine with you.

Default Globilization

I see the word and I feel prejudice.
For some reason the word globilization
has become synonomous whith pot smoking
long hair, anarchists. However I think that
that the market works better than social
enginering. And thats it. I dont care how you a live
as long as you dont ask me to pay for it.

Honestly?

Well, yeah, I do.

I don`t like to think the trainers on my feet were made with child labour.

And I don`t like governments oppressing and killing their citizens in case someone thinks it would be a good idea to do it over here.

You care about your own human rights, don`t you?

Can you not appreciate that protecting human rights in general protects your human rights?

And self-interest aside can you not empathise with the sufffering of others? Or is it that if it makes a buck then it`s all good.

So what if there are children enslaved, in bonded employment...if it is what the market demands, then so be it...(eyes glazed) ...we believe...

Issues of this nature don't get fixed overnight. But I believe that friendly trade relations that benefit both China and the U.S. will bring about a gradual transition toward capitalism and democracy - or at least a regime that is less oppressive - and sociological issues like human rights will iron themselves out eventually. It could take a new generation or two to see a change in attitude, and if a generation in China is officially, say, 20 years, it could take a while. But, it will never happen if things remain status quo.
