"In dramatic and sometimes agonizing terms, federal disaster officials warned President Bush and his homeland security chief before Hurricane Katrina struck that the storm could breach levees, put lives at risk in New Orleans' Superdome and overwhelm rescuers, according to confidential video footage. Bush didn't ask a single question during the final government-wide briefing the day before Katrina struck on Aug. 29 but assured soon-to-be-battered state officials: "We are fully prepared."

Here is something that I never understood about the Katrina tragedy...
and remember by no means am I comparing 9/11 to Katrina.. just comparing this one aspect. When the US was attacked on 9/11, everyone in NY came together and helped each other. Strangers helped strangers, blacks helped whites, whites helped blacks, women helped men, and men helped women. It did not matter who you are or why you were in NY everyone came together and helped. After Katrina hit LA, there was looting, shooting, drugs, rape.... Crime all around. No one helped anyone. No one came together. Cops were even looting, and ignoring their job duties. Why? I am not talking federal help either way, or volunteers coming from outside the cities. I am talking residents, locals in each of these locations. Sorry to veer off topic a bit, but this is just something that continues to stir in my mind.

I heard this story on the radio while driving home and the first thoughts that came to me was that the warnings form the weather services were available to all and was ready to make that statement when this topic appeared. Truth is good for all.
But lo and behold I read the posts and what do I see, but nothing more than the same whine from JP. That old saw of "the W they all hate, that must be his fate". Afraid I am that forever that tired old phrase will be said, until something really intelligent replaces it instead, Slim chances that my wish will be granted, For forever and a day have the W apologists ranted, But lo and behold I read the posts and what do I see but nothing more than the whine of JP. No matter the topic they cry " our poor W you guys hate", it has even been written in Slate. JP, do not get it that you are the real "one-trick pony" here. See Quote:
