Default Abramoff/DeLay Ethics Golf

Quote:
ABC NEWS March 2, 2006 — The paper trail seems so obvious it makes you wonder whether anyone ever worried about getting caught. When Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, and his wife flew from Houston to a golf resort in Scotland in June 2000, the first-class airfare cost $14,001, a big-ticket item for a public servant. But someone else paid.
The American Express bills of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who pleaded guilty to fraud charges in January, show he footed the bill for the tickets, in an apparent violation of House ethics rules. (…)
"The source of the travel expenses may not be … a registered lobbyist," according to the House rules. Abramoff was a registered lobbyist at the time.

Perhaps Tom "the Hummer" DeLay can claim that he didn't know how the trip was paid for. Then he can try to explain how this ignorance mitigates guilt.

Even is he doesn't go to jail, which I hope he does, he's finished. He no longer has any power in the House. And to add insult to injury. he will have to fight for re-election. I guess they smell blood down in Texas since he will have several Republicans running against him.

Default Tom Delay WON!!

Well.....Tom Delay won his Primary. And when his district all learns that his Democrat opponent, Nick Lampson, is collecting donations from the likes of Norman Lear, Barbra Streisand, and Rob Reiner, and other Hollywood liberals, they won't take to that very well. Even if some are disappointed with Tom Delay....they won't like the fact that Hollywood's left thinks they can buy Texas' congressional seat. Big mistake. A very big mistake.

Default His district is so republican already, his chance of loosing

is nil!! The only way to get rid of these traitors is to convict them!!! If, and that's a big "IF" he ever does get convicted you know he will be pardoned by Bush anyway, so I really don't see all the hoopla!! Republicans are in charge and they will not intentionally turn on other republicans unless it will help them in 2008! No other reason to put these unethical scumbags out to pasture these are the best of their best, you are talking about here!!!

Nothing to see here, move along!!!

It really shouldn't matter that the district is republican. You would think that Average Americans would want honesty in politics. Lord knows the politicians don't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about honesty. Apparently in Texas it's all about winning and party loyalty.

Also, the government is too corrupt right now, Delay will never be convicted of anything.

Yeah, right. Like the Democrats didn't "circle the wagons" around Bill Clinton when he was in trouble. Or any other Democrat in trouble. I think most people realize that both parties have dealings with lobbyists and that doesn't necessarily make it illegal either. If you think the "all about winning and party loyalty" is ONLY alive and well in Texas.....you're naive.

Believe me.....IF there was anything ILLEGAL that Tom Delay did......Ronnie Earle would have already found it.

Yeah, right. Like the Democrats didn't "circle the wagons" around Bill Clinton when he was in trouble.
The American people circled the wagons around that fool upon his impeachment. Read on...
(AllPolitics, December 20) -- In the wake of the House of Representatives' approval of two articles of impeachment, Bill Clinton's approval rating has jumped 10 points to 73 percent, the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll shows.
That's not only an all-time high for Clinton, it also beats the highest approval rating President Ronald Reagan ever had.
At the same time, the number of Americans with an unfavorable view of the Republican Party has jumped 10 points; less than a third of the country now has a favorable view of the GOP.

He found plenty. He has indictments against the Hummer and a felony criminal trial awaits. Did you think that the rat-catcher had been acquitted?

We weren't discussing polls; we were discussing how Democrats rally around and support their leaders...even when they've lied and been dishonest.

Earle's case is weak. Ronnie Earle didn't even include Tom Delay at first.....but the little weasel took such a media whuppin' from the libs, that he added him.

Default Republicans have the fear card, and that's all they need!

For now anyway!!!

JP5 just once, amaze us all and not bring up Bill Clinton as an excuse/reason for republicans to be as unethical as they can possibly be???

The Republicans lost the "fear" card when the Bush administration made a deal with the devil. Choosing Dubai to run the ports is a big looser for Republicans.
