Default US Forces Massacre Iraq Wedding

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor.../iraq_attack_6

Reports are still sketchy but this looks valid.

This is when I start to question the US Armed Forces' ability to determine friend from foe.

Pretty pathetic... but in this case it sounds like a simple tragedy. It would be terrible to politicize this event, although I am sure that the insurgents will.

If this story turns out to be true, which it seems to be, I'm really wondering what will the cover story for this be?

Terrorist hideout?
A terrorist?
A possible terrorist?
Hostile fire into empty air?
Friendly fire into empty air?
Gunfire in general constitutes retaliation?
Something suspicious we cannot disclose?
Poor temper?
Bad day?

I want answers.

Too soon to say for sure right now. Initial information is as follows:

"Senior military officials in Washington said their initial information was that U.S. forces conducted a strike on "anti-coalition vehicles" along the Iraqi-Syrian border. Officials are reviewing a videotape showing the bodies of small children in a truck full of bodies and are waiting for word from their commanders in Iraq."

If this was a wedding "celebration".....when in the heck are these people going to stop being so stupid to fire AK47's (in celebration) into the air in a country in the middle of a war? How stupid can one be?

How stupid can the helicopter pilots be NOT to realize this was a Wedding Celebration and not a threat?!

Other reports indicate that the US military had been out earlier to investigate and found nothing amiss. Then at 2.45AM an US Apache helicopter showed up and lit the house up.....

I thought the Iraqi's were free? Why shouldn't they be free to fire their guns in the air at a wedding celebration?

Or is this another "oops" like the wedding party in Afghanistan that got shot to pieces by US forces??

What a mess....

Good God. So.....what do they do, Darken....place a call to the local information to see if there's a wedding going on before they react? I'm so sure that's what YOU would do if you were in a helicopter and saw people on the ground firing at you. The people were stupid to fire weapons into the air. IF that's really what happened. What's to say they aren't claiming it was a wedding? We don't know at this point in time.

Only YOU would believe the U.S. military knew it was innocent wedding party and came back to blow them to smiterins just for funsies.

FYI, we can't fire AK47's into the air after wedding celebrations in OUR COUNTRY. And we're not in a war zone. Why in the heck would somebody in a war zone endanger their children by "celebrating" in that fashion? Either stupid.....or this isn't REALLY what happened at all.

I can't tell you what happened for obvious reasons, but one this is for sure, these guys shot first and asked questions later.

Maybe its just me, but if I'm the pilot of an multi-million dollar Apache, I sure as hell would make sure what I'm shooting at is an enemy.

Besides if a few Kalashnikov bullets can take down an Apache, (*)(*)(*)(*), I think we need some better helicopters.

Default So are you falling for more press propaganda???

Remember Iraq's defense minister saying," There are no Americans in Baghdad....." while meanwhile the city was in our hands???So now, did the military mistake a an Iraqi wedding as hostile? If the apache(?) did then it had good reason too. Ive seen the technology and we don't make mistakes that often. Most likely this is just more crap from Iraq press coupled with our press, or the helicopters returned fire like they should have. PERIOD!!!!!

And since a wedding was halted, we probably saved a woman from being a religious slave to her husband.. free from condescending comments, lashes, complete body coverings, locked up in house, AND NO VOTING RIGHTS!! oh wait that last one is all women..
