Not far to go to tie Nixon. Come on king George you can do it. What screw up can we look forward to in the future. Tricky Dick shooting another friend in the face? I don't know but it's going to be fun watching! Tee He!
Iraq drives Bush's rating to new low "WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Growing dissatisfaction with the war in Iraq has driven President Bush's approval rating to a new low of 36 percent, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Monday. Only 38 percent said they believe the nearly 3-year-old war was going well for the United States, down from 46 percent in January, while 60 percent said they believed the war was going poorly. Nearly half of those polled said they believe Democrats would do a better job of managing the war -- even though only a quarter of them said the opposition party has a clear plan for resolving the situation. Pollsters quizzed 1,001 adults Friday through Sunday for the poll; most questions had a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Fifty-seven percent said they believe the March 2003 invasion of Iraq was a mistake, near September's record high of 59 percent. That question had a sampling error of plus or minus 4.5 points. Bush's approval rating of 36 percent is the lowest mark of his presidency in a Gallup poll, falling a percentage point below the 37 percent approval he scored in November. The previous CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted February 28-March 1, put his job approval at 38 percent." http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/03/13/bush.poll

Actually, although I don't approve of Bush, he is far from the all-time low in Gallup polls, which was set by Truman (at 23%) rather than Nixon (whose low was 24%):

Well he sucks in the polls. Now we are just debating how much he sucks.
It's like a girl who will have sex for enough money. If it's a small amount of money they are a whore. If it's a bit more they are a hooker. If it's a whole lot they are a call girl. A prostitute by any other name!

I suspect the answer is so limpidly obvious that he feels no need to respond. As, at the risk of condescending, I will do so for the benefit of those who don't do nuance.
One poll is a CNN/USA Today/Gallup product and the other is other one you reference was done on behalf of CBS. SInce all polls use slightly different metrics we can expect slight variations in outcomes. Need help in understanding? |

nice condescension, and its application was much deserved in this instance:

I'm sure bin-Franklen really appreciates you answering the question for him.
Right bin? Now I have another question, and this goes out to anyone in the peanut gallery... Can anyone explain to me the relevance of an approval rating to someone who isn't planning on running for office anymore? Not only is he not planning on running again, but President Bush has repeatedly stated that he doesn't make decisions based on polls. It's kind of like this analogy: I don't particularly like watching golf on television. (Well, not even in person) The producers of golf shows/competitions continue to show these. I'd rather watch ice melt. It doesn't seem to affect my life either way. If I force myself to watch it for maybe 30 seconds or more without falling asleep... nothing changes for me. I usually end up changing the channel, yet they continue to show golf. If they quit, fine by me. If they don't quit, fine by me. It makes me no difference. I'm going to continue to live my life... golf-less. I'm prepared to live with the consequences of my decision. Bush is like that with polls. You can conduct your polls if you like. To continue to pretend that it SHOULD make a difference to him is where you're entering the realm of the obsessively stupid. This doesn't mean polls mean nothing, or that politicians who follow polls are less than ideal. It just means that this particular politician doesn't fit that category, that's all. President Bush's father let it be known that he didn't like broccoli. Broccoli farmers all over America were outraged. He still didn't like broccoli no matter how much they were outraged. The same goes with W and polls.
