What we really need is an Islamist or heavy sympathizer that denounces violence as much or more than the West. Someone who gives voice to both resistance to the West (and thus a speedier takeover of nationalist forces, as well as a populist feel) and peaceful methods, as well as standing up peacefully against the wishes of terrorists and insurgents. Someone who can make dying for peaceful self-governance as virtuous as dying in war.
I'm shcked that we have not seen such a person yet.

Looking back, I believe we had the world in our palm after 911. It was a senseless tragedy that put us into a position to rally for world peace. Don't you think we could have "used" 911 to begin a campaign for world peace? Especially us being the super power of the world. Instead, to get back at a handful of terrorists, we destroyed an entire countryside, dropped their innocent citizens like flies, not to mention the sacrifice of our own. I can't help but think, if it had been anyone but Bush, just anyone. Misfortune has rained down on our great nation; as if 911 wasn't bad enough. We could have the taken the bad and made it into something good and positive. But the lies began, and what a tangled web we have now.
