Some guy sued after he was called a Nazi and his wife was called a prostitute. He was awarded £10,000. Would anyone venture a guess to their own financial liability due to comments made on this board?

Voluntarily participating in a chat forum and then suing because someone called him names. What a crybaby.

I think I owe a few grand to a few people. Duh would probably rack up a few million since pretty much every one of his posts is a name calling fit. Barney probably has a few hundred grand he needs to pay out.

England has a strange libel law that states that the person doing the accusing has to prove the statement is accurate, instead of the person being accused having to prove the statement is inaccurate. Kinda weird if you ask me.

No matter which way you look it, no one should be able to sue for being called names in a chat room.

Since the internet is international, what would happen if someone from England tried to sue someone in the US? Whose court would the case go to?
It's bad enough someone got away with such a silly suit in Europe. But now we've got this whole complicated mess of legal questions.

I think he would have to sue in England and get a judgment in England. Then, the English court would have to get an American court to agree with the judgment. But I'm not a lawyer.
