Iran is only a partial democracy, so it's not a good example. Unelected mullahs hold all the power.

As would I. The question is, would you prefer an unelected ruler that's on your side (Saudi Arabia, say) to a democracy that isn't?

I challenge all the above assumptions.
In the long-run the kings of Jordan and Saudi Arabia will not be in our best interests.
And in the long run you will regret the harsh actions of those who allegedly have this courage.
You'll find some day that picking your friends just by who they oppose is not always sound in the long run (We all should have figured this out by now).
