First of all, this is old news. Wonder why it's being brought up again now?
Secondly, passing it to "Washington last October on condition of strict anonymity" isn't the same as saying, "in strictist confidence".....OR "on condition they not share it publically."
Besides....or Director of National Intelligence press release on this states that the letter was......
"....obtained during counterterrorism operations in Iraq."
He also states......
"The letter from al-Zawahiri to al-Zarqawi is dated July 9, 2005. The contents were released only after assurances that no ongoing intelligence or military operations would be affected by making this document public."
