Near the end of the book, Daly tells of losing to Tiger Woods in a sudden-death playoff last fall in a World Golf Championship event in San Francisco.

After winning $750,000, Daly went to Las Vegas where he lost $1.65 million in less than six hours, playing a $5,000 slot machine.

"Twenty pulls is a hundred grand," Daly said. "The next thing you know, 600 grand is gone."

FIVE THOUSAND per pull on a slot? Five g-r-r-r-r per pull? Twenty pulls, and oh well, there goes a hundred g-r-r-r-r. Six hours, oh well, there goes $1.65 mil. he also lost a large sum playing 21 at the MGM. Not as much as Michael Jordan, the Prince of Bahrain, or Ben Affleck...but a large sum nonetheless.

Bill Bennett lost what John Daly lost after 30 seconds of pulling the slot handle. Bennett did nothing wrong. Comparing Daly to Bennett is really stupid.

Neither Bennett nor Daly did anything wrong. What people do with their own money is no one's business (as long as no third party is being harmed).

While I don't have a problem with gambling I think if you waste over $1.5 million in a few hours then you have issues. There are thousands of charities that could do a lot of good with that amount of money. I undertand entertainment, but you don't need to blow that much. They are free to of course, but I understand criticizing that behavior too. At least Affleck is an extremely generous tipper and gives to those not as fortunate!
