Default Congrats to the true Conservatives.

The low approval rating does not really matter much to me (he sucked when when his rating was high after all), but the fact so many dropped the Kool Aid is nice. Kudos to the right.

Default good

After the nonsense with Bill Clinton I was looking forward to the republicans winning the presidency which seemed a sure thing at that time. then out of no where Bush Jr. comes out of nowhere as the candidate. I thought that was weird. all I could think of was his father saying "read my lips...no new taxes" then passing the largest tax increase in history up to that time.

Now it has become obvious this guy has done nothing conservative. He is a fraud and a fascist Nazi. All republicans need to voted out of office to send them a clear message that real conservatives want nothing to do with "Bill Of Rights" and "Constitution" destroying traitors.

About time they see Mr. Bush for who he is. Although the Republicans in Congress deserve a lot of the blame too; they're just an inept...if not more so.

Default Almost time for George...

...to call for the kool-aid to be served?

My guess is only the goof-ball Evangelicals and neocons are still swallowing what he's serving now.

Default =)

A confluence of trouble... a series of unfortunate events.. a string of 'bad calls'.

From the Katrina response... to the border situation.. Bush is a bad president when it comes to inside-the-border moves... Foreign policy-wise.. I usually agree with his stance...

But he has done many many things here in this country that I disagree with... and it seems the other conservatives are catching up.

HOWEVER, if he closes the borders tommorrow.. things will change for the better for him.

Default Bush

is hardly a tradtional conservative president. But I doubt a traditional conservative could get elected right now, because much of what they stand for like free trade or opposition to social spending is becoming less popular. The trend lines are moving against them....

His conservative base is jumping ship including people like Buckley and Wills. Its one reason his numbers are so bad.

The US Mexican border is over 3200 miles long. Its impossible to close it if we built a wall and had the whole US military man it.

I have a suggestion. Instead of closing the borders, penalize employers that hire illegals.

Default There have been signficant

penalities in place against them since 86. They dont work because their is no one else to do the job so the businesses hire illegals or they go out of business. Its not hard to guess what they do in that case.... Moreover, much of immigrant labor works in areas like services or construction where documentation is very difficult to track. The US government would have to be vastly powerful to even try to do so and the public wont accept that. It did not work even in the police state that was the former Soviet Union.

We have had this debate many times before. The results will be the same. Nothing meaningful will be done, because nothing meaningful can be done. Its like trying to stop drugs entering the country.

Default I disagree noetsi

I think something meaningful CAN be done, but we don't have any politicians with the will to do it. Hard choices lay ahead for us all because of this glaring lack of steel in their spine. Something tells me the mid-term elections will be a turning point.

Everyone wants something for nothing. Americans will fill positions for a living wage.
