I have understood that the mental problems are part of the symptons for this disease.. Especially 'cloudiness' and depression were mentioned.. True or false, the association with mental illness might be rather problematic for the doctors.. The doctor will be left wondering, what part of the patent's story is true or false, or is everything delusional.. Still the physical symptoms should be measurable and a clear indiciation of a disease..

I suppose it is not only difficult for the phycisian, but also difficult for the patients.. It is not really nice, if your prescribed medication for potentionally lethal disease is anti-psychotic.. It only clears your mind to assure you that the painful advance of the ignored sickness is not a delusion..

I guess that if the story has lived this long without being confirmed as b*llsh*t, it is more real than "what"..
