Quote:
Home Secretary John Reid has (*)(*)(*)(*)ed his department's immigration system as "not fit for purpose" with "inadequate" leadership and management systems.
He also said, in the wake of a series of other failings, the Home Office was "dysfunctional" from time to time.
|
'Dysfunctional' is not the word for releasing 1,019 foreign prisoners instead of deporting them, and employing five illegal immigrants to work as cleaners in your friggin' office!
Though on the plus side, Clarke has gone, and Reid has promised to do something.
Quote:
He told the MPs the department was in a state of transition from a paper-based system to a technology-based one.
But he believed "we can carry out and must carry out" a fundamental overhaul of the Immigration and Nationality Directorate.
Staff had been given eight point action plan on which to work. "It's not my job to manage this department - it's my job to lead this department."
Asked about the cabinet secretary's suggestion last week that no civil servants were likely to lose their job over the foreign prisoner releases, he said: "Don't count on it."

Hopefully this is more than just empty promises. The H.O is inefficient all the way down and needs a drastic overhaul. Nine years of neglect by Reid's Labour predecessors has reduced the H.O to a shambles. It might be too much for Jonny boy to handle.
Check out
this for more information about the H.O's utter incompetence.
