I expect this from Democrats; but not from the Republicans.
Congress leaders denounce FBI office raid By Andy Sullivan 2 hours, 51 minutes ago WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Leaders of both parties on Capitol Hill accused the FBI on Tuesday of overstepping constitutional boundaries designed to protect Congress when it raided a Democratic lawmaker's office over the weekend. Even Dennis Hastert and Trent Lott: ""There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything," Lott said. "We don't want a situation where the FBI just shows up at will and starts rummaging around here." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060524/...jefferson_dc_9 HUH???? What are you talking about Trent? You mean....even though Jefferson's aide told the FBI there was evidence in his office....AND even though Jefferson disregarded a Federal Judge's order to turn over that evidence some 8 months ago?? What's up with you guys in Congress and the Senate? Do you think you are all above the law? Do you insist on being free to accept your bribes and be able to get away with it by hiding something in your offices??????? Do you think you have the right to ignore a federal judges' order????

The justice dept likely violated the constitution by their raid.
This established very bad precedent, which is why Congressional leaders are denouncing it, and rightly so. If this President could do it, another (Democratic?) president could also do it. Bush is a clear and present danger. Thank God the American people (of both parties) are finally recognizing it. |

Apparently the hatred of President Bush takes precedent over catching a crimminal. (or anything else for that matter)
The man gave the FBI reasonable cause. They have him on tape. He defied a judge and a court order. They caught the crook red handed, and all you can think about is separation of powers? So, it's okay to be dishonest, to peddle your influence, and to take bribes just as long as you don't violate the separation clause as you see it?

Jefferson is movin' on up, to the East Side,
To that de-lux apartment in the sky Yeah, movin' on up, to the East Side He finally got his piece of the pie. This is really too funny. Jefferson hiding cash in his deep freezer. (*)(*)(*)(*) Jefferson, you don't hide cash in a deep freezer, that's where you put your spare ribs. Jefferson, how do you think you'll look in one of those orange prison jump suits? Not as sharp as you do in one of your custom made suits, I bet. Have a nice life Jefferson, and remember, deep freezers are for storing spare ribs, not cash.

the neocons are alarmed about setting the precedent allowing investigation of Congressional space ... which could be (*)(*)(*)(*)ing when hillary breaks out the special investigators soon after being sworn in.
as the kool aid drinkers around here are fond of saying, if one has nothing to hide then why shouldn't everything be subject to inspection. or maybe they are just concerned about preserving the separation of powers - yea, sure |

Hell they thought Bush would love them for doing that and they could sit up there forever ripping us off? Now that they have no more power then what the hell does Bush need them for anymore? They just became expendable just like we did. What a bunch of morons. They had it made as long as they had power and now nobody needs them. They should have guarded their powers jealousy and maybe took the time to read the (*)(*)(*)(*) "Homeland Security Bills" and realised they were giving Bush a blank check to do anything he wants to do as long as he calls it "terrorism" or "national security". . |

I love how the Congress only starts caring about constitutionality when their ilk (corrupt slimeballs) start getting investigated by the Feds. How about focusing on the president's huge expansion of executive powers instead, Congress. Oh, wait, that would require a spine...
