Default Onedayhiswomanranoffwithanotherguy, hityoungrockyintheeye,

Maybe we should stop nuns from marrying invisible entities, since that entity cannot give consent, and because it is not clearly defined as a woman or man??? Next thing you know someone will want to marry unicorns?? I guess that fits the category of bestiality as well???

Rocky Raccoon, in times like this you must look to a higher source and ask yourself the question??? What would John Wayne do???

Answer; He would shoot the snake and kiss the pretty girl!! Wa, wa, wa!!!

It is the states decision, not the federal governments, to determine the marriage issue!!! What part of none of the governments business don’t you understand???

Default Rockydidn'tlikethatandsaidI'mgonnagetthatboy,sohew alkedinto,

Yep like I figured your "no" John Wayne!!!

Making fun of other cultures doesn't have anything to do with civil unions and life long commitments!!

Here this is more on the issue of what you want to discuss, marriage!!

http://purplepew.org/archives/2006/0...or-a-lifetime/

Quote:
Define Marriage For A “Lifetime”

If we are going to change the U.S. Constitution to reflect the biblical interpretation of post-King James Bible Version Christians who oppose marriage equality, namely marriage for lesbians and gays, and want to write discrimination into our Constitution, then I say let’s do it right.

The U.S. Constitution should be changed to say that “marriage is between one man and one woman for a lifetime — no exception!”

After all, didn’t Jesus speak clearly that divorce was a sin? No one can argue that He left out God’s will for marriage regarding lifetime commitments. Thus, divorce is not a religious right; it’s merely a civil dissolution.

Once the Constitution reflects the whole truth (as the post-KJV interpreters would have it) then our government, backed by Protestant, Catholic and Mormon church leaders who believe in the sanctity of marriage, can legally require all persons who have divorced and remarried leave their second (or third) spouses and either go back to their first spouse or remain celibate the remainder of their living years, or face criminal charges. Leviticus says adulterers should be stoned, but lethal injection will work.

The government could also save money by disallowing child credit claims on tax returns to men who have fathered children with women other than their first wives. Or all men who have fathered children through adulterous affairs could be charge a “sin” tax.

Too, Christian companies that followed the bible and the law would have to deny medical benefits to second spouses and children produced through their adulterous relationships.

And any Christian, Mormon or Catholic that divorces or has had a divorce in the past should be brought to “trial” and given a sentence of excommunication and public humiliation for their grave sin.

So let’s jump on the bandwagon and support the change to the Constitution to reflect the majority who support the “religious” right, but let’s demand that it’s done right.

“Marriage is between one man and one woman for a lifetime — no exceptions! …And violators will be persecuted to the fullest extend of the church.
How can you admire scum & filth like Rush Limbaugh when he has single handedly trampled on the sanctity of marriage, three, NO, 4 times, wasn’t it???

I just don't understand why people, in a free society, think they can dictate morality??

It is none of "our" business what two (any) consenting adults (adult) do (does) in the privacy of their own home!!

If you really believe in freedom, you have to believe, and stand by it for everyone, not just the ones that fit your ideology!!!

If two adult human beings want to make a commitment to each other, for love, money, sex, or companionship, what right does anyone, especially the government, have to dictate anything referring to an individuals personal preference???

If no one is getting killed/murdered, sustaining bodily harm or potencial threat from an assault/recklessness, being robbed or having personal possessions destroyed/damaged, then the government needs to, but the hell out!!! We have enough laws that impose/stifle on our constitutional freedoms!!! The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, you know, all that meaningless dribble that too many ignore, for convenience!!!

If marriage is so sacred to you why are you not demanding that the military pursue individuals in the armed service who are involved in fraudulent marriages for illegal financial gain??? THAT’S STEALING, and it is already recognized as stealing in both the federal laws, and the military laws of conduct???

If we demand perfection, it will backfire!!!

"Civil unions" I can live with, nothing more. Marriage is one woman and one man, and may their bond last for a lifetime. Change that, and that guy with the woolly cofornicator won't take long to claim HIS alleged "right" to bleep sheep. Mary had a little lamb. Film at eleven.
Now you are arguing semantics. Call it a flippity dorp if that will make you feel better. It should be up to religions to decide if they want to recognize a marriage, and the State if they want to grant legal privileges.

Animals can NOT consent, hence they can NOT be legally bound to a human being. If your wacko religion wants to marry you to animals, more power too them. But the State can not and should not recognize a two party contract when one of the parties is unable to consent.

I also firmly believe that writing discrimination into the Constitution is wrong. I would ask that all people leave their petty bias out of the greatest document ever written. I always ask myself, is it ok to amend the Constitution just because you can get a super majority to agree to it? They thought outlawing liquor was a good idea for a while. In the 40's it would have been easy enough to get enough votes to outlaw inter racial marriages. I guess I am too much like the founding fathers in that I don't trust the masses to always do what is right, which is why I believe in the principals behind the electoral college.
