There is proposal on the ballot in Michigan, to end affirmative action in the state. This would follow two other states that have already done this (California is one of them).
What do y'all think about this? Do we still need Affirmative Action to redress past injustices, or are we ready for a "color-blind society"? |

Yeah I think its done enough damage already. Anyway when the Mexicans become the "Majority" and are still spoke of as a "Minority" then it's going to become one big mess. When the whites want benifits as a "minority" class then of course the others will want to end it, since they will argue it is "unfair". Ha Ha

We can't just suddenly declare, "Hey! We're a 'color-blind' society!"
We will never have that kind of society until everyone, blacks, whites, hispanics, jews, asians, and any other bogus racial group, decides to stop discriminating against each other based on race. You can go ahead and declare our society color-blind, but at this time, you're still going to have plenty pf people who will discriminate b/c of race.

insisting that we are colorblind is really just an excuse our white majority indulges itself so it can remain truly blind to injustices which continue against minorities.
open your eyes people and see that disparities do continue. racial discrimination is just more covert now where it had been overt from the reconstruction until the legislation of Title VII. here is but one recent example to show that we are still very far from being a colorblind society: "... blacks were four times more likely than whites to pay high interest rates on home purchase loans. Hispanics were two times more likely. Even blacks with incomes above $100,000 a year were more likely to pay high rates than whites with incomes below $40,000 ..." http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlot...s/14812890.htm |

Money has no color, and making money has no color. If there was proof of direct abuses in discriminating against people of color borrowing money, they could sue the pants off of these companies for that discrimination.

It SHOULDN'T exist coz it does not level the playing field for everyone.
But Joker is right: We will be in denial if we think that "pure racism" does not continue to affect peoples lives and will continue whether or not AA is done away with.
