Default Can We Talk?

35 more dead, 86 wounded. 20 dead in another blast by a bomber on a bike.

Disregarding what your poilitical party is, or whether you like Bush, who among you really believes this is ever gonna stop?

Who among you thinks it COULD stop is they let Saddam go?

Default RE

It will end eventually, all things end. As for when, who knows.

if nothing else, they'll run out of bombs, or they'll run out of buildings, or they'll run out of people... more likely, they'll run out of the will to fight and continue this pointless killing, which may take years, but it will happen eventually.

Default Biden was right

We should have let Iraq partition itself into three independent pieces, each with its own government.

The "Yugoslavia solution", as it were.

It would have been cheaper, easier, and better for everyone, in the long run.

The only people who would really have objected to this would have been the Turks.

And to the point, my guess is that it would have resulted in far less loss of life, on all sides.

One could argue that it might eventually have led to war, but then again it looks like the way we're going now is eventually going to lead to war. The only difference is, we could have stayed out of it with Biden's solution, whereas now we're stuck there.

I fully suspect that the Kurds could have been convinced to let us build whatever "intelligence" facilities we needed over there.

Default You can stop pretending now

Hoping for it to rain lemon drops is more realistic than to expect Iraq to be violence free. You're being silly.

It's not free of violence here in America. Why would you expect it to be shangri la in Iraq? Last night here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, one man killed another over a $5 bet at a drag race, another man killed his wife in an argument as the cops attempted to pull him over, then turned the gun on himself. It's just as senseless, yet I don't see anyone crying "When will this all end?"

More people die here in a year by automobile accidents, than all three years in Iraq took the lives of U.S. military. The average American probably has a better chance of surviving their tour in Iraq, than a year on the streets of Detroit. You've got to put things into perspective.

The process of changing a young democracy into an orderly one where the past decade there was nothing but warfare, is going to take time. Even if things go better than expected... it'll never be perfect. People will die in senseless violence, and will continue to do so.

To be brutally honest in answering your question... it will never end.

Default And one more thing...

If they set Saddam free, he would be dead within an hour on the streets of Baghdad. He had too many enemies before the new government, and now that other people hold the reins, he's got even more.
