Judge: FBI raid on lawmaker's office legal
By TONI LOCY, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 22 minutes ago WASHINGTON - A federal judge on Monday upheld the FBI's unprecedented raid of a congressional office, saying that barring searches of lawmakers' offices would turn Capitol Hill into "a taxpayer-subsidized sanctuary for crime." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060710/..._on_congress_9 Surprise, surprise: the judge said that "a member of Congress is bound by the same laws as ordinary citizens."

Agreed. This decision was a major victory for justice.

After all, they would not have had to break into his office and get the materials, if he'd turned them over according to the judge's order.

About time! I was wondering when this was going to happen. Does everyone else up there in Congress think that they are God's gift to the world?
Well, for one thing, I know Jackass Murtha has that mentality! Now, let's go after ALL crooks in any national seat of power. |

Ofcourse it is. Correct me if I'm wrong you can be charged with crimes and legally searched if your a congressmen but you can't be kicked out off office unless you are impeached and 2/3 of the senate kicks you out. I think the debate was that it the search was violation of the immunity given to a congressmen.
